LOUISIANA RAGIN CAJUNS vs. MARSHALL THUNDERING HERD BETTING PREDICTION

The Ragin Cajuns of Louisiana make their first-ever trip to Huntington to face the Thundering Herd of Marshall. This will be the inaugural conference game between these two schools which have met on the gridiron just once before. It wasn't long ago these teams tangled, either, as Louisiana picked up a 36-21 win in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 18, 2021.

Things have gone off the rails a little for the Cajuns since head coach Billy Napier departed for the University of Florida. ULL is an uncharacteristic 2-3 SU/3-2 ATS through five games, cashing the UNDER three times. After a 2-0 SU/ATS start, the Cajuns have dropped three straight outings, including a 20-17 loss against South Alabama last time out at home. The good news is that ULL did cover the 8.5-point number.

Marshall bounced back from a pair of losses at Bowling Green and at Troy, picking up a 28-7 win over FCS Gardner-Webb in a tune-up game, although it failed to cover the 31-point number as the UNDER cashed. The UNDER is now 4-1 in five games overall for the Herd.

MARSHALL THUNDERING HERD BETTING ANALYSIS

The Thundering Herd also hasn't lit the world afire, peaking in a 26-21 win at Notre Dame back on Sept. 10. After a 34-31 overtime loss at Bowling Green, splashing cold water on the Irish win, the Herd bottomed out with just seven points in a 16-7 loss to Troy, before barely scraping by Gardner-Webb 28-7, a team it should have routed.

Marshall has covered just two of the past seven games overall, while going a dismal 8-25 ATS in the past 33 games at home. In addition, Marshall is just 3-7 ATS in the past 10 games against teams with a losing record.

For totals, Marshall has hit the UNDER in four of five games overall, while going 6-1 in the past seven games at home dating back to last season. They're also 5-2 in the past seven to the UNDER after a bye week, while hitting at a 5-1 clip after a straight-up win.
