UPDATE FRIDAY, JULY 25: The past five Ryder Cups have been won by the home team. Most recently, in 2023, Europe posted a 16.5-11.5 victory at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Italy.

With the event now stateside again, The SuperBook has two sets of Ryder Cup odds. In three-way betting, it's Team USA -135/Team Europe +145/Tie +1200. That's a modest adjustment from the June 18 openers of USA -125/Europe +135/Tie +1200.

In the two-way market of to lift the trophy, it's USA -135/Europe +115, after opening -125/+105. Since the USA must win outright to lift the trophy – a tie goes to the defending champion – the Americans' three-way odds and two-way odds are the same.

Action so far is light.

"Traditionally, we see very little play on it until at least after the squad announcements take place," SuperBook golf oddsmaker/VP of risk Jeff Sherman said, alluding to post-Aug. 17 roster finalization. "Thus far, a majority of support has been on USA to lift the cup -125.

"The only action we've seen in the three-way market has been on the tie. All other tickets are on both squads' lift-the-cup price."

Home Cooking

UPDATE FRIDAY, JULY 25: As noted above, home soil has proven positive in Ryder Cup odds. Sherman noted the venue impacts the price, for certain.

"There's no question the home team gets the price built into it," Sherman said. "The event has traditionally seen home-team support, rather than patriotic USA support. That's especially so when played in Europe, where we would see more European support than USA support.

"When it comes to Bethpage Black, the course will favor long hitters, with its length. Keegan Bradley will have influence in course setup, which would be more beneficial for his team, too."

Also aiding U.S. team captain Bradley: The red-hot play of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who won the PGA Championship in May and the Open Championship in July.

"There's no Scheffler effect on the outright price, as he has been expected to be involved all along. If he were to not participate, then you would definitely see an adjustment in the pricing," Sherman said.

Ryder Cup Betting History

The Ryder Cup is a golf event that features teams from the United States and Europe, going head-to-head over a three-day period. Each team consists of 12 golfers. Those golfers are selected to the team first on rankings, then on captain's picks.

The golfers from each team compete against one another in eight foursome matches, eight fourball matches and 12 single matches. Each match is worth one point, and if a match ends up tied, then both teams are awarded a half-point.

The first team to earn 14½ points wins the Ryder Cup. If both teams are tied after all the matches are played, then the team that won the previous Ryder Cup retains the trophy.
