It appeared that Dustin Johnson was going to capture another major after the first 36 holes of the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club from Southampton, New York.

Unfortunately for DJ and bettors backing him, the world's No. 1 ranked player shot a 7-over 77 in the third round on Saturday. That result came after Johnson posted a 69 and 67 on Thursday and Friday respectively.

Johnson is now in a four-way tie for the lead with three other Americans - Daniel Berger, Tony Finau and Brooks Koepka -- at 3-over.

Behind that quartet is a pair of solid international golfers in Justin Rose (+4) and Henrik Stenson (+5).

[...] had Johnson listed as an odds-on favorite after the second round but the numbers have changed after 54 holes.

The global outfit has him listed at 8/5 betting odds (Bet $100 to win $160) to win the event.

Koepka, the 2017 U.S. Open champion, is at 7/2 odds while Rose is 5/1. Finau (15/2), Berger (8/1) and Stenson (12/1) round out the top six choices on the board.
