Each week we'll take a look at the best round matchups to try and build up a nice bankroll.
Lucas Glover (-135) vs. Adam Hadwin: Glover has ripped off three consecutive top-20 finishes, as he is hurtling toward the FedExCup playoffs on a serious roll. Hadwin won't stand in his way this weekend, and Glover is not only a legit top-20 contender again this week, it wouldn't be surprising to see him hoisting the trophy in a field which isn't terribly deep with most championship contenders resting up for the three playoff tournaments.
Brandt Snedeker (+135) vs. Paul Casey: Yes, Casey is the No. 8 golfer in the current FedExCup standings, and he has been on a roll this season. However, Snedeker fired a course-record 59 at Sedgefield last season, and his even keel will help him mightily at a course he knows well. He isn't a masher off the tee, but that's not necessary. It's rather surprising to see Casey in the field with so many contenders skipping the event to focus on the playoffs. The difference between these two golfers will be on the Bermudagrass putting greens, as Snedeker ranks 12th in Putts Per Round (28.30).
J.T. Poston (-115) vs. Branden Grace: The South African Grace has been a disaster since February, finishing higher than 50th on just three occasions across the past 14 events, including five missed cuts. Grace's inaccuracy off the tee will be his death knell, and he checks in just 89th in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee and he is 195th in Par 4 Scoring. That simply will not do.ROUND MATCHUPS (ROUND 1)
Paul Casey (-0.5, -105) vs. Jordan Spieth: Spieth hasn't been himself this season, and Casey ranks No. 8 in the FedExCup standings. He is the better golfer this season and it will show through in the first round at Sedgefield.
Viktor Hovland (-0.5, -115) vs. Sepp Straka: Hovland enters with three consecutive top-20 finishes, and he faces a golfer who was third at the Barbasol Championship, and 12th at the Barracuda Championship. This will be a good matchup, but Hovland has 68.80 scoring average in the first round over the past five tournaments. He gets off to hot starts, and he'll do it again on Thursday.
Last event (St. Jude/Barracuda): 4-3 (+65)
This season: 36-34-2 (-260)
OTHER BETS
Top 20 Finish - Brandt Snedeker (-110): Snedeker doesn't wow anyone off the tee, but he does solid work with his irons, is solid on approach and his putting is better than anyone in this field.
Top 20 Finish - Lucas Glover (+185): Glover has three straight top-20 finishes, and a pair of finishes inside the Top 10. He'll remain hot at Sedgefield this weekend, serving as a springboard into the postseason.
Top 20 Finish - Byeong Hun An (+207): The South Korean golfer checks in on the heels of a 32nd-place showing at Royal Portrush last time out at The Open Championship, and he could have been even better if not for a 4-over 75 in the final round. He'll be one of the brightest stars in a rather shallow field. An is a tremendous value at this price.
Last event: 1-4 (-263)
This season: 23-51 (-1971)
