NBA Best Bets | Expert Picks for Wednesday, Jan. 31

Suns vs Nets

by Michael Crosson

The Nets blew out Utah by a score of 147-114 in their latest affair, which is two straight victories for Brooklyn after defeating the Rockets by a score of 106-104 this past Saturday.

Even after their latest two wins, however, the month of January has still been quite troublesome for the Nets as they own a miserable record of 4-10 since New Year’s Eve – while ranking 25th in the league in offensive rating during that span.

While on the flip side, the Suns are in the midst of a bit of a rough patch as they enter tonight’s contest following losses in two of their last three games – with one of those losses coming by a score of 133-131 in Indiana, and the other coming by a score of 113-98 in Orlando.

If you take a step back though, Phoenix still owns a solid record of 11-5 since New Year’s Eve, while ranking 7th in the league in net rating during that span – and they won seven straight games prior to their latest three-game stretch. This strikes me as a great spot to sell high on Brooklyn and buy low on Phoenix.

Pick: Suns -3 (-110)

Nuggets vs Thunder

by AAA Sports

Nuggets @ Thunder Over 228 Total Points (-110)

These teams have been involved in several lower-scoring games of late, but all signs point to more of an offensive affair here in our opinion between these division rivals.

OKC had won five in a row, but it's now coming off two straight losses. It's seen the total go "under" the number in three straight now after its most recent 107-101 loss to Minnesota, but that's significant to take note of here as the Thunder have in fact seen the total go "under" the number in seven of their last ten after playing to three or more straight "unders" in a row.

Denver plays with revenge after a 119-93 home loss in late December to the Thunder, and note that the Nuggets have seen the total eclipse the posted number in eight of their last 12 in trying to avenge a SU/ATS home loss in which they where held to 95 or fewer points in.

Considering all of the above-listed factors, this O/U line is indeed a tad low; so the play is the "over!"
