NEW ORLEANS PELICANS vs. MILWAUKEE BUCKS BETTING PREDICTION

Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson have both dealt with health issues over the last month or so, and it’s certainly shown in the Pelicans’ numbers across the board, highlighted by New Orleans posting a miserable record of 3-12 since New Year’s Eve, while ranking 26th in the league in net rating during that stretch (-6.1 NetRtg).

Zion remains sidelined for New Orleans. However, Ingram finally returned to the Pelicans’ lineup on Wednesday night, but so far, it hasn’t made much of a difference, considering they’re now 0-2 against a pair of mediocre opponents since that point, and they got beat by a comfortable margin in both affairs.

While on the other hand, the Bucks have also dealt with their fair share of health issues as of late, especially in the frontcourt, highlighted by Bobby Portis and Giannis Antetokounmpo both landing on Milwaukee’s injury report entering tonight’s affair. Although, Giannis is listed as probable for this one.

Over the last few seasons, we’ve seen a trend develop regarding New Orleans, and it appears that even with the addition of CJ McCollum, nothing has truly changed. The Pelicans are a very good basketball team when Zion is on the floor, but when he’s not, this squad tends to fall apart.

Ingram played less than 30 minutes in both of his outings since returning from injury. So, eventually, he’ll loosen up and to make a bigger impact for New Orleans as he continues to heal. However, for the time being, fading the Pelicans is still a pretty safe bet, as they’ve now lost 12 of their last 15 games, with seven of those losses coming by a margin of 9+ points.

NEW ORLEANS PELICANS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Pelicans are one of the most dangerous teams in the West at full strength, and they’ve shown glimpses of that throughout the year. However, the problem is, this squad is never healthy, and that starts with Zion Williamson.

This is Zion’s fourth season since being drafted by the Pelicans with the top overall selection in the 2019 draft, and since that point, he’s participated in just 114 contests for New Orleans, or in simpler terms, an average of 28.5 games per season.

CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram are excellent complementary pieces to Zion, and whenever the Pelicans’ trio of stars is active and firing on all cylinders, this is a squad capable of making a deep run in the postseason. However, in the absence of Zion, there’s no need to respect this squad against legitimate contenders like the Bucks.

MILWAUKEE BUCKS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Bucks are also dealing with a handful of injury concerns heading into tonight’s affair, however, unlike New Orleans, the focal point of their offense remains in-tact, and as long as Antetokounmpo is on the floor, Milwaukee has a punchers’ chance in virtually any matchup.

Despite their latest revolving door of injuries, the Bucks own a record of 9-4 in their last 13 contests, with seven of those victories coming by a comfortable margin of 8+ points.

So, in a home matchup against a Pelicans squad that’s now lost 12 of their last 15 games, and seven straight entering tonight’s contest, we’ll probably see the Bucks roll in this one.
