Saints vs. Cardinals Player Prop Pick

  • Taysom Hill (NOR)/Kyler Murray (ARI) Anytime TDs (+620)

There is still a lot of uncertainty with this Saints vs Cardinals Thursday night football game, but I think we found some good spots to target. The Cardinals had gotten off to a pretty slow start, and it seemed like last week's matchup against the Seahawks and their 31st ranked pass DVOA defense would be a good bounce back, but that didn't happen.

Instead, they scored a measly 9 points, further adding criticism to both Kyler Murray and Kliff Kingsbury. This Cardinals team desperately needs a win, and the Saints might be the place to do it. The Vegas line is currently -2 for the Cardinals, giving them a slight edge, with a total sitting at 44 -110.

Speaking of the Saints, this is a very different team from years passed. While they were touted as a top 10 defense entering the season, that hasn't panned out. The main difference has been the lack of pressure, this was never a team that blitzed much, but rather relied on organic pressure from their d-line.

When they can't successfully pressure the quarterback, the whole backbone of that defensive scheme falls apart. Andy Dalton and Jamies Winston were both limited participants in practice, so we are unsure of who will currently be starting. Marshon Lattimore, Micheal Thomas and Jarvis Landry have all not practiced thus far, the injury report is looking grim for the Saints.

The biggest problem with Taysom Hill is we don't know who’s starting, but technically it could still be him if either Dalton or Winston cant go. This team also does seem more willing to use Taysom when Dalton is in, so that would be my preferred starter. I love players with red zone flexibility, and that's exactly what Taysom offers with the ability to both rush for touchdowns and catch them.

Hill has five rushing touchdowns this season, and a couple end zone targets that didn't pan out. It's so funny to watch the Saints run the same exact play over and over with him at QB, and it always seems to work. The Cardinals defense is beat up and just got run all over last week, I think Hill finds his way into the end zone. Let's double up on quarterbacks, and go with the one that just ran for 100 yards last week.

With a wide receiver core of Robbie Anderson, who got into town yesterday, and Deandre Hopkins, who hasn't played all season, I think Kyler is going to have to do a lot of this on his own. He has not been the accurate passer we had hoped for, and I expect him to be carrying a lot of the offensive load this week. If Lattimore does end up playing, thats a positive for this bet considering he will likely shadow Deandre Hopkins.
