EDMONTON OILERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 35-23-4
  • ATS: 29-33
  • O/U: 31-28-3

The Oilers have cashed in five consecutive games, outscoring the opposition 27-13. Edmonton has scored four or more goals in each of the five outings. But the past three games have been against the New Jersey Devils, Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings, not exactly the cream of the NHL crop. And the five-game win streak is all against Eastern Conference teams. Edmonton's last game against a Western Conference team was a 3-1 loss at Calgary, and it has lost three in a row against the West.

Edmonton has won just four of the past 13 games as an underdog, while going 2-6 in the past eight as a road 'dog. In addition, Edmonton is just 2-5 in the past seven tries against Central Division teams.

The OVER has cashed in four of the five games during the win streak. However, the UNDER has been the dominant trend lately, going 3-0-1 in the past four as a road underdog, and 3-1-1 in the past five games on the road. The UNDER is also 3-1-1 in the past five against winning teams, too.

COLORADO AVALANCHE BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 44-13-5
  • ATS: 31-31
  • O/U: 34-23-5

As mentioned, Colorado has three straight wins, including a pair of shutouts from Kuemper. The Avalanche are a ridiculous 44-8 in the past 52 games at home, and 40-11 in the previous 51 outings as a favorite, too. Colorado has also cashed in 36 of the past 51 games against Western Conference foes.

For totals, the UNDER is 8-1-1 in the past 10 games against teams with a winning overall record. The UNDER is also 12-4-1 in the past 17 games against Western Conference opponents, and 6-2 in the previous eight against Pacific Division organizastions.

The Avalanche have posted 44 wins in the past 52 games at home. (AP)

EDMONTON OILERS vs. COLORADO AVALANCHE BETTING CONCLUSION

As mentioned, Edmonton and Colorado are facing each other for the first of three meetings in the next month. The OVER is 5-1-1 in the past seven meetings in this series, but the UNDER is the lean here with as hot as Kuemper has been playing in between the pipes for Colorado, especially at home. In addition, the Avs offense took a bit of a hit when LW Gabriel Landeskog went down with a knee injury. D Sam Girard is also dealing with a lower-body injury, too, and is likely to be scratched. Despite those losses, the offense is still very much loaded.

The Oilers have been hot, too, but all good things must come to an end. The home team has won each of the past three meetings in this series, and that streak isn't about to end here. Back Colorado, but play the puck line instead of laying the big number for the straight up win.
