TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING vs. BOSTON BRUINS PREDICTIONS

The Lightning are coming off a 3-2 loss in Carolina against the Carolina Hurricanes, a game which I was able to catch in person, which is always nice. The Lightning didn't do a whole lot of scoring, as Nicholas Paul notched a goal midway through the second period on a deflection, while Alex Killorn scored with exactly one minute remaining in regulation thanks to an extra attacker. That was it. It was another struggle for the Lightning against a top team, something which has been a theme for Tampa Bay lately.

The Bruins added a few shiny new pieces at the NHL trade deadline, reinforcing the blue line with some depth in the form of Josh Brown, while grabbing one of the better rearguards available in Hampus Lindholm. In fact, the latter gives the B's more size and a little more sandpaper for the playoffs. The B's also hung onto Jake DeBrusk, re-signing him to a two-year deal after he reportedly asked to be traded. So it looks like Boston is in a better place heading into the final stretch. Now, can it get over the hump against a Tampa Bay team which has given it fits over the years?

Teams go through tough stretches all the time, even the good teams, but this is not an opportune time to experience a letdown.

Perhaps a trip to Boston is just what the doctor ordered, as Tampa Bay has won seven consecutive skates in Beantown, while dominating the B's with a 17-5 mark in the previous 22 meetings. It's been an UNDER-fest for the Lightning lately, which isn't surprising given the fact Vezina Trophy candidate Andrei Vasilevskiy is in between the pipes. The Lightning have really struggled against the good teams, and are about to get leapfrogged by the Bruins if they don't pull out of this nosedive. What better way than to get on track with a road win against the team pursuing you?

Tampa Bay has dominated Boston over the years, winning 17 of the previous 22 meetings, including an uncanny 7-0 win streak in Boston. The road team has successfully come away with victory in eight of the past 10 games. Tampa Bay has had some issues lighting the lamp lately, but I think it'll do enough to get the job done against Boston.
