Aston Villa vs PSG Preview
Aston Villa | Draw | Paris Saint-Germain |
12/5 | 14/5 | 21/20 |
Aston Villa will need to overturn a 3-1 deficit if they're to make the Champions League quarter-finals. Last week's game in Paris started well for the English side, as they went ahead courtesy of a goal from Morgan Rogers, but they then conceded three times, with all of PSG's goals being world-class strikes.
Since the last leg, Aston Villa have beaten relegated Southampton 3-0, a result everyone was expecting. PSG, meanwhile, have had the whole week to prepare, having not played since the first leg at the Parc des Princes.
Villa go into the game with an almost full-strength squad - the only doubt is Leon Bailey, who might not be ready to return from injury. PSG are also at full strength, meaning a return for captain Marquinhos, who will slot into defence.
Prediction
Aston Villa will have to attack in this game, but that will leave them exposed - and with PSG's impressive forward line, that could be dangerous. It should be a great game of football, but Villa are unlikely to overturn the deficit.
Our Champions League Prediction: Aston Villa 1-2 Paris Saint-Germain
Borussia Dortmund vs Barcelona Preview
Borussia Dortmund | Draw | Barcelona |
29/10 | 3/1 | 5/6 |
Tonight's other game sees Barcelona travelling to Dortmund, where they'll look to defend their commanding 4-0 lead. In Barcelona, the hosts ran riot, with Robert Lewandowski scoring a brace and Raphinha and Yamine Lamal scoring one each.
Since the first leg, Dortmund have seen an uptick in fortunes, as they secured an impressive 2-2 draw against league leaders Bayern Munich. Barcelona weren't quite as impressive in their last match, eeking out a 1-0 win against lowly Leganes.
Dortmund will be without the injured Marcel Sabitzer and Nico Schlotterback for tonight's game, while Emre Can is questionable to be fit. Pascal Gross will be out due to suspension. Alejandro Balde is out for Barcelona, after suffering an injury against Leganes. He'll join Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Marc Casado, and Marc Bernal on the sidelines. Raphinha is nursing a knock but should be fit, while Dani Olmo should also be okay to play a part.
Prediction
Just like Villa, Dortmund will need to take the game to Barcelona. This should lead to opportunities at both ends. After their humbling last week, Dortmund players will want to salvage some pride, which should hopefully lead to a more competitive fixture.
Our Champions League Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Barcelona
