Weekend Predictions
FA Cup, Serie A Best Bets

Matchup: Sheffield United at Millwall

League: FA Cup
Date: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. ET

Best Bet: Millwall to win at 23/10

Millwall are FA Cup specialists. Since 2013 they have gone out in the semi-finals once and the quarter-finals twice. Much of this has been down to a freakish run of home draws. 15 of their last 17 FA Cup draws have been at home, and they have beaten top flight sides in Everton, Watford, Leicester and Bournemouth in that time. Sheffield United are still relentlessly focussed on getting to 40 points in the Premier League, and if their team is anything like the side they put out in a 2-1 win over non-league AFC Fylde in the Third Round, then it is barely any better than Millwall’s best XI.

Matchup: Tottenham Hotspour at Southampton

League: FA Cup
Date: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. ET

Best Bet: Southampton to win at 7/4

Tottenham are the third favourites to win the FA Cup. This is largely down to Jose Mourinho’s good record in English cup competitions. But just because Mourinho wants to win FA Cup ties, it does not mean he will and Southampton away looks a really tough draw for Spurs, who needed a replay to overcome Middlesbrough in the Third Round. Southampton look safe from relegation and can now focus a bit more on the FA Cup than they might have done previously. Their 2-0 win at Palace was arguably their most complete performance of the season and at 7/4 they look value here.

Matchup: Liverpool at Shrewsbury Town

League: FA Cup
Date: Sunday, 12:00 p.m. ET

Best Bet: Liverpool to win at 1/2

Liverpool put out an absurdly weakened side in the last round against Everton. But was it so weak after all? They won 1-0 and deserved the victory, dominating the midfield and restricting Everton to few big chances. League One side Shrewsbury are not a bad team. They have a good defence and a good home cup record, but they struggle for goals. Jürgen Klopp will probably play a similar side to the one he picked against Everton, but even one or two improvements could make the price of 1/2 look very big indeed given the gulf in quality.

Matchup: Lazio at Roma

League: Serie A
Date: Sunday, 12:00 p.m. ET

Best Bet: Lazio to win at 7/5

The first thing to note here is that home advantage does not apply. Roma and Lazio share the same ground and both sides keep their traditional ends for the Rome derby. Both sides have had good seasons, but Lazio are the best team in the Italian capital at the moment. They are on a remarkable run of 11 straight wins in all competitions. Ciro Immobile is Serie A’s top goalscorer with 23. They have proved their quality by being the only team to beat Juventus this season - and they have done it twice. Lazio are going places and it would be no surprise to see them in the Champions League next season.

Matchup: Juventus at Napoli

League: Serie A
Date: Sunday, 2:45 p.m. ET

Best Bet: Juventus to win at 21/20

Napoli are having an absolutely torrid season and there is no way Juventus should be odds-against to win this battle of two bitter enemies. Napoli’s off-field problems are well-documented, but another issue has been the failure to replace Dries Mertens’s goals. The Belgian has had a bad season and might be moving before the month finishes. Their league record is W6 D6 L8. Juventus have 51 points from 20 league games and are a class above Napoli.
