Atletico Madrid have not exactly set La Liga on fire this season, and their tie against Liverpool may be too much for them. No team qualified from the group stages with fewer goals - eight - than Diego Simeone’s men, and they have managed a paltry 25 goals in 24 league games this season, which is under half Barcelona’s tally. Liverpool’s miraculous league record is well known, and while they have reserved some of their bad fortune for the Champions League, they have enough to get goals in Madrid, and Atletico, who are missing João Felix, look blunt going forward.
This game should be fantastic. Borussia Dortmund have one of the most exciting forward lines in Europe, and PSG look stronger than they ever have been and are the fourth favourites to win the competition. Bookies are expecint goals. Both teams to score is 4/11 and over 2.5 is 2/5. The best bet might be getting on Jadon Sancho to score first. The England international has netted four in his last six games and is combining well with Erling Braut Håland. At 6/1 he looks good value.

Atalanta are the highest scorers by goals per game in Europe’s top five leagues. Their group stage experience was rocky, but this group of players is new to the Champions League, and they improved throughout it. They have the perfect tie against Valencia, who are undoubtedly the weakest of the eight group winners. They lie seventh in La Liga and lost their last away game 3-0 at Getafe. Atalanta, meanwhile, beat Roma last time out and are in the form of their lives. At 3/4 they look a very nice bet.
Tottenham scraped their way to the Champions League final thanks to some rather good fortune last year, and although their recent Premier League games have followed a similar pattern, it could all catch up with them against a free-flowing, incisive RB Leipzig team. Leipzig proved their mettle with a 0-0 draw at Bayern Munich two weeks ago before dismantling Werder Bremen 3-0. Spurs laboured against Aston Villa last time out and were exceptionally lucky to win 2-0 against Manchester City. They have rarely played well under Jose Mourinho and could come unstuck against a motivated Leipzig side.
