Sweden vs. Ukraine Picks & Predictions

Sweden are worthy favorites here and are canny operators in tournaments. They managed to get all the results they needed in the group stage without ever looking particularly brilliant. If they take the lead early then Ukraine may find it hard to get back into the game. Once again Forsberg looks the best first goal scorer bet at 15/2.

Betting Odds - Sweden vs. Ukraine

Sweden were the surprise winners of Group E and are rated as 7/5 favorites to win the match inside 90 minutes. Ukraine are 9/4 with a draw as short as 21/10, which is a sure sign that a high-scoring game is not seen as likely. Over 2.5 is 6/4 with under 2.5 8/15. Sweden are 7/10 to qualify and Ukraine are 21/20.

Sweden Betting Outlook

Defying growing homogeneity in international football, Sweden are one of the most consistently characteristic teams in Europe. Once again they play a solid 4-4-2 with experienced defenders and functional central midfielders. The big change since 2018 has been the emergence of Aleksandar Isak up front. The pacey Real Sociedad forward is a real live wire and unlike anything Sweden has produced since Henrik Larsson. He is their main outlet, but it is RB Leipzig’s Emil Forsberg who has been their main man in front of goal, scoring three of their four.

Ukraine Betting Outlook

Ukraine looked reasonably good in their first two games, going down 3-2 to the Netherlands and beating North Macedonia 2-1, but their performance in a 1-0 loss to Austria that consigned them to third place in the group was very poor. They were narrowly favored at kick off but were comprehensively outplayed. Tiredness may have been a factor and that does not bode well for this match. Their four goals have been scored by two players scoring twice each: Roman Yaremchuk and Andriy Yarmolenko.
