What’s Going On?

This is as important of a two-game series as you could have with almost a third of the MLB season still left to play. That makes it a great time to open a SI Sportsbook account with bonus code VIBONUS.

You don’t need to be a high roller for your new SI Sportsbook account to get you a deal. It’s a $5 bet, that’s it! When you open your account, using the VIBONUS promo code, and you bet $5 you’re getting $100 in Free Play Bets!

Why Should You Care?

It’s only the first week of August but this is a crucial matchup for both the Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves. These two are currently sitting in wild card spots and both are on winning streaks. They just played a series in The City of Brotherly Love and the Braves took two of three.

Philadelphia has won five in a row and is +180 (-105 +1 ½) while the Braves won the first three of this current homestand and are -215 straight up and -115 on the run line. The total is 8 ½ with odds of -105 on the over and -115 for the under.

Can The Phillies Continue Their Playoff Push?

Sweeping four from the Pirates brings the Phillies into this one on a 6-1 run. That was a nice turnaround since they started 1-4 after the All-Star break and now find themselves right in the heart of the playoff hunt. Maybe this club likes life on the road because they’re on an 8-0 road winning streak. In seven of those, they allowed a total of two runs or less outscoring the home squads 30-6 in those games.

Nick Nelson gets the call for the visitors. How long he’ll last should be decided early as this is only his second start in between his many relief appearances. He’s coming in with a 3-1 record and a 3.94 ERA with a WHIP of 1.31. That lone other start saw him go two innings and he’s thrown 2.1 or less in 19 of his last 20 outings. His last nine trips to the mound totaled 14.2 innings of work and he yielded 9 hits and 5 walks while striking out 17 without allowing a home run. He threw 23 pitches in a game during that previous series giving up two hits, a walk and one earned run.

Are The Braves Setting Themselves Up For A Repeat?

Atlanta has won three in a row and is 6-3 since the Home Run Derby. They’re also 12-4 in the last dozen at Truist Park. The pitching has started strong on this homestand allowing Arizona just four runs in the sweep. Although the final game with the D-Backs was a 1-0 walk-off win, in the 12 previous games overall the Braves have scored four or more runs in nine of them.

Spencer Strider is on the mound for Atlanta and his last start was against this very same lineup in Philly.  He went six, threw 90 pitches, permitted 3 hits with 1 walk, and one earned run which was good enough for the win. Heading into tonight he’s 5-3 with an ERA of 2.91 and a 1.02 WHIP.

This Is A Great Spot To Open A SI Sportsbook Account!

Wagering on a game where one of the teams is starting a reliever and playing the bullpen game is always tricky. On one side you have a visiting team that’s doing just that but is also on an eight-game road win streak. They’re facing one of the best team’s in the league that’s winning at home.

All three of the games in that last series in Philadelphia had at least nine runs scored in each of them. Open a SI Sportsbook account with the VIBONUS promo code and take the over in this one. That’ll get you a +2000 ROI on your play to use on some other MLB plays after things settle down following the trade deadline.
