Trevor Lawrence’s first season with the Jaguars was filled with drama and a lot of losses on the record. He will start his second season with Doug Pederson as the new man in charge in Florida, and owner Shad Khan has lofty expectations. Just four years ago Pederson won the Lombardi trophy as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. He will have plenty of weapons to use in Jacksonville, including the number one overall pick in Lawrence and Travis Ettiene Jr. to bolster the backfield.

Trevor Lawrence had an up and down season but he showed enough flashes of his athletic ability to demonstrate why he was the number one overall pick just a year ago. His second season will be a great measuring stick to test his improvement. While changes are abundant in Jacksonville, they will face a Washington Commanders team which has endured their fair share of drama in the last couple season.

The Commanders come into this season with a good situation in their quarterback room with the additions of Wentz. Wentz has shown tremendous flashes of MVP caliber plays, but has had a few setbacks. We still think Wentz has a lot to prove this season and will be looking for redemptions.

The Commanders will also employ Sam Howell out of the University of North Carolina, a rookie with tremendous arm talent. Taylor Heinicke falls back into the backup role after the 2021 campaign. Last season Heinicke threw for over 3,400 yards and tossed 220 touchdowns alongside 125 interceptions. The Commanders will look to improve on the somewhat surprising 2021 season, but the Eagles and Cowboys will be tough beats amid the schedule of the Commanders. The Commanders have the sixth hardest schedule in the NFL this season.

The Commanders will play host to the Jaguars on Sunday in the early morning slate of games. The WynnBET Sportsbook has the Commanders laying a slight number of 2.5. Dating back to last season the Commanders have been a good bet on the cover, hitting at a 6-2-1 ATS mark in their last nine games. The Jaguars have not been great lately covering, especially in the beginning months of the season. They are just 1-4 in their last five games in September ATS. Jacksonville has not covered in four straight games against Washington. A $100 wager on either the Commanders or Jaguars spread would net a $90.91 return.

If you like the Jaguars to covers, the money line listed at WynnBET is +120 is worth a look. The total is set to 44 with both the over and under coming in at -110. Dating back to last season, both teams have trended towards the under. The Commanders have seen the total go under at a 9-3 rate in their last 12 while the Jaguars have seen the total go under at a 12-4 clip in their last 16.
