Canada’s Sports Interaction Signs Partnership Deal With the National Lacrosse League

Canada Sportsbooks · Bonus Codes · Betting News · Special Update

As the entire legal Canadian sports betting industry continues to expand, more and more partnership deals are coming to light. One of the more recent partnerships has been formed between sports betting operator Sports Interaction and the National Lacrosse League (NLL).

Sports Interaction is operated by Mohawk Online. This company is owned by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake. Based out of Quebec, the operator is licensed and regulated by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.

In addition to legal sports betting through provincial lottery corporations, Canada has provisions for tribal gaming as well.

Sports Interaction has always been an active sponsor of professional Canadian sports teams. This list includes the CFL’s Ottawa RedBlacks and the Edmonton Elks. As far as the NLL, the company worked with the Toronto Rock as an official gaming partner.

The new deal with the NLL as a whole should be a win-win for both parties. The one-year agreement designates Sports Interaction as the official Canadian sports betting partner.

This includes the rights to signage at team arenas and other forms of visible advertising exposure. Sports Interaction will be featured on TSN’s Game of the Week broadcasts. However, there will be no in-game sports betting integrations.

NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz added the following insight in a recent press release announcing the partnership:

“We have been developing the NLL sports betting platform as a new line of business throughout the last 20 months and betting partners are a key part of the platform.”

Also weighing in on the NLL partnership was Dean Montour as the CEO of Mohawk Online. His comments included:

“Lacrosse is part of our heritage and a sport very close to our hearts. For centuries, Mohawks have bet on lacrosse games and we are proud to partner with the NLL and its fans because they share our passion and epitomize everything that is great about the game.”

Lacrosse has grown to become one of Canada’s national sports. The NLL is made up of 14 teams with five franchises in Canada. The other nine teams are based in the US.

Along with Toronto, the other four NLL teams are the Saskatchewan Rush, Halifax Thunderbirds, Calgary Roughnecks and Vancouver Warriors.

League officials eyeing expansion noted that there is room for as many as “seven or eight” Canadian franchises down the road.

The Atlantic Lottery Corporation provides provincial-regulated lottery and sports betting for the Maritime provinces of Nova ScotiaNew BrunswickPrince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador.

This will be the first year that this Canadian gaming organization will be offering betting options for lacrosse. At the present time, this could be the only provincially run sportsbook offering betting odds for lacrosse in Canada.
