A highly recognized live global sports streaming service is planning its launch into the legal US sports betting industry. DAZN Sportsbook has targeted early 2022 as a possible time frame to go live.

One of the first steps in the process was to bring in a company vice president in charge of betting and gaming. The actual job description for this new position was posted earlier this year. As part of that description, the stated goal was to build "a world class betting proposition."

Also taken from the job description was the following statement:

"As the VP of this team, you’ll be responsible for the entire user journey flows from discovery to bet conversion."

The move into legal sports betting does not come as that big of a surprise. After establishing itself as a premier live streaming service for select sporting events, a sports betting platform was a logical next step.

Towards the end of summer, Ian Turnbull assumed the role of Executive Vice President of Betting and Gaming. He brings extensive experience in online gaming after working for Entain and Amazon Web Services.

DAZN streaming services has an estimated worldwide customer base of 15 million based on active subscriptions. The primary sport covered is boxing. Other sports highlighted by the streaming service include soccer, snooker, darts and extreme sports.

The move into legal sports betting is geared towards offering an "all into one service." DAZN’s primary business focus will remain sports streaming subscriptions. The growth potential in the legal online US sports betting industry is the primary force behind expanding into this particular gaming vertical.

The company has yet to release specific information for the initial launch of DAZN Sportsbook. However, it could be following the same playbook as fubo TV.

That popular live streaming service also has a strong lean towards sports. By adding its own sports betting platform, plans to launch Fubo Sportsbook were set into motion. The mobile sports betting app made its initial debut in Iowa.

Fubo Sportsbook has also made the necessary plans to enter a few more high-profile markets in the coming months. The company has an agreement with the Cordish Companies in Pennsylvania and Indiana. Fubo will partner with Caesars Entertainment in New Jersey.

The fifth legal US market for Fubo Sportsbook would be Arizona. The company’s partner in that state is the Ak-Chin Indian Community.

DAZN has already made the necessary investments in building a world class team of gaming experts. The company also has some previous experience in the global sports betting industry.

In 2017 DAZN was partnered with Perform, as a key sports data provider for sportsbook operators. This combined group launched the UK-based online sportsbook DabbleBet. That venture only lasted 18 months.
