GAN HAS PARTNERSHIP WITH TOP TIER SPORTSBOOK OPERATOR FOR ONTARIO SPORTS BETTING

US Sportsbooks · Bonus Codes · Betting News · Special Update

GAN Limited made an announcement last week that it made a deal to provide its technology to a tier one US sports betting operator for the purposes of Ontario sports betting. However, GAN has yet to announce which US sportsbook operator it is partnering with. This is because the Ontario sportsbook partner that GAN has struck a deal with has chosen to remain anonymous.

It will remain anonymous until it receives its operating license. But, the deal has to be announced prior to this so that GAN can start working with suppliers for third-party payments, content, and technical services in general. But, as far as it comes to tier one operators, the field has been narrowed down to DraftKings, FanDuel, and BetMGM. This is according to the current market share in the US.

As of right now, many are thinking the lucky partner is FanDuel. This is because it previously used GAN’s sportsbook technology to launch in the US prior to making its way onto its proprietary tech stack. Plus, GAN runs FanDuel’s online casino in a few states.

To whoever its partner is, GAN will be providing its player account management platform (PAM) as well as its online casino tech. Then, the partner will be providing its sportsbook engine.

The CEO of GAN, Dermot Smurfit, is excited to sign their first B2B client into the new Ontario iGaming market. He anticipates that the market will be a significant source of future growth. This is due to the population size of the province. They are excited to have a trusted and proven tier 1 partner at their back.

Ontario sports betting has been live since August 27th. However, only ProLine+ which is run through the lottery is taking bets in that market so far. At this time, commercial operators are waiting for the go ahead to receive licenses and launch their own Ontario sports betting operations. Commercial sports betting in Ontario was supposed to launch in 2021, but now has been delayed.

In Canada at this point, PointsBet seems to be the most active commercial sports betting operator. And, it is building an executive team that has experience. Plus, it has lucrative partnerships with The Nation Network and Dailyfaceoff.com, two Canadian sports focused websites.

Ontario has a population of almost fifteen million people, which would make it the fifth largest state in the United States. A resort from Eilers & Krejcik estimates that Ontario sportsbooks could be able to generate up to $570 million CAD in revenue from sports betting next year.

Its largest city is Toronto, which is a prime sports hub in North America with MLB, MLS, NBA, and NHL teams in addition to the Canadian Football League. And, Ottawa has its own NHL and CFL team as well. Plus, Hamilton has a CFL in addition.

Pricing will be helped by an open market, which has proven to be an early issue with the lottery offering in Alberta. In addition, more operators with better pricing would also bring in more sports bettors to the legal sports betting market.
