College Basketball Best Bets | Expert Picks for Saturday, Feb. 17

California vs Washington

by Kevin Rogers

Washington is fresh off consecutive wins over Oregon State and Stanford as the Huskies stepped up defensively in each of those victories.

California has been up and down of late in Pac-12 play, coming off back-to-back losses to UCLA and Washington State, two of the hottest teams in the league.

The Golden Bears will be looking to avenge a 77-75 home setback to the Huskies last month, the sixth straight loss to Washington since 2021.

Let's take the points in this rematch and back California.

Pick: California +7 (-110)

Oregon vs Oregon State

Oregon State Beavers +7.5 (-110)

Oregon State has lost five in a row to slide to 3-11 in Pac-12 play. The Beavers are 3-4 S/U at home in Pac-12 play with one of the losses in overtime while one of the wins came against highly ranked Arizona.

This rivalry game will provide the potential for Oregon State to play up and Wayne Tinkle's team has faced the second toughest schedule in the Pac-12 at this point.

Oregon is in fourth place in the Pac-12, but the Ducks are only 8-5 while just 3-5 in the past eight games since a 5-0 start in league play.

Oregon is 1-3 S/U in the past four road tests and the defense has allowed 80 or more points in four of the past eight games.

Oregon State has been much stronger than Oregon in 3-point defense with the Beavers #1 in 3-point defense in the Pac-12 and these teams have very similar defensive ratings despite the contrasting records.

Oregon is reliant on 3-point shooting hitting over 38 percent for the season, but that pace is unlikely in Corvallis while the Ducks are one of the worst interior scoring teams in the conference.

Oregon State has great size and should tower over the Ducks at several positions in the primary rotations for these teams.

Oregon State is 11-4 S/U at home while Oregon has only four road wins this season and the Beavers are 6-4 ATS in the past 10 meetings in this series including 3-1 at home.

Oregon was just -3 and -2.5 in splitting recent road games in Pac-12 play and now will be more than double that price vs. their main rival on the road tonight.
