This Friday night’s limited college basketball betting board does have two matchups of national interest on FOX Sports 1 with ranked teams the Big Ten and the Big East facing a stiff test on the road.

The early tip sends the No. 12 Maryland Terrapins on the road to face the Iowa Hawkeyes. Later Friday night, the No. 6 Butler Bulldogs head east to tangle with the Providence Friars.

Maryland moved to 3-1 straight-up (2-2 against the spread) in Big Ten play with Tuesday’s impressive 67-55 home win against Ohio State as a three-point favorite. It also covered as a 6 ½-point home favorite in Saturday’s 75-59 victory against Indiana. The Terrapins had failed to cover in six of their previous eight contests. The total stayed UNDER in those last two outings and it has stayed UNDER in six of their last eight games. Anthony Cowan Jr. scored 20 points against the Buckeyes. The senior guard leads the team in scoring with 16.7 points per game.

The Hawkeyes slipped to 1-3 SU and 1-2-1 ATS in their first four Big Ten games following back-to-back road losses to Penn State and Nebraska. They closed as three-point underdogs in a PUSH against Penn State and eight-point favorites in the loss to the Cornhuskers. Iowa is 10-5 SU overall with a 9-5-1 record ATS. The total has stayed UNDER or ended as a PUSH in 11 of those 15 games. Junior center Luka Garza is averaging 22.1 points and 10.7 rebounds a game. He had 18 rebounds against Nebraska after scoring 34 points with 12 rebounds against Penn State.

The Bulldogs squeezed past St. John’s in their Big East opener 60-58 closing as four-point road favorites ahead of Saturday’s 71-57 rout of Creighton as 4 ½-point favorites at home. The 2-0 conference start is part of an overall SU record of 14-1. The lone loss was to Baylor. After covering in six of its last eight games, Butler is 10-4-1 ATS with the total staying UNDER in four of its last five games. The Bulldogs almost blew a 23-point lead in the tight win against St. John’s. Kamar Baldwin (20 points) and Sean McDermott (18 points) helped Butler cruise past Creighton.

Providence is off to a 3-0 start (SU and ATS) in conference play following Tuesday’s 81-80 overtime road upset against Marquette as a five-point underdog. It has now covered in its last four games after going 1-9 ATS in its previous 10 games. The total went OVER 144 points in the latest win after staying UNDER in wins against Georgetown at home and DePaul on the road. Maliek White (19 points) was one of five players in double figures on Tuesday night. Senior guard Alpha Diallo leads the Friars in scoring with 13.6 PPG. He had 12 points against Marquette.
