WISCONSIN BADGERS VS. INDIANA HOOSIERS PREDICTIONS

The 15th ranked Wisconsin Badgers enter this matchup after losing to Rutgers at home 65-73. The Badgers shot just 21.1 3PT% while allowing Rutgers to shoot 58.3% from beyond the arc. Prior to the loss, Wisconsin had won two in a row, one of those wins coming against Michigan State on the road. The Badgers are currently 3rd in the Big 10 with a conference record of 10-4, just one game back from the first place Illinois Fighting Illini.

The Indiana Hoosiers lost on the road to the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday 61-76. The Hoosiers have now lost a season high of three straight games. Seven of Indiana’s eight losses have come against Big 10 opponents. This is a streaky basketball team that hasn’t quite found a consistent rhythm. They have quality wins against Purdue and Ohio State, but also have losses to Penn State and Northwestern. If the Hoosiers are able to find some consistency, they could become a dangerous team down the stretch.

I like Indiana to get their offensive groove back in this one. This could be the game that sparks the end of the season the run that they so desperately need. The Hoosiers were able to get out to a 17-point lead in the first meeting, but loss because of an extremely poor second half. I think they show up for the entire 40 minutes this time around, and get the win plus cover. Taking the Hoosiers at –3.

WISCONSIN BADGERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 19-5
  • ATS: 13-11
  • O/U: 15-9

Wisconsin has been above average ATS this season with a 13-11 record. The Badgers have not been covering as of late, going just 1-6 ATS in their last seven games. They have had more success against the Hoosiers, going 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games against Indiana. The total has gone over 15 times in Badger’s games this season including 10 of their last 14.

Wisconsin’s offense is not flashy by any means but has been consistent throughout the year. Entering this matchup the Badgers are averaging 70.9 PPG (184th), 11.4 APG (296th), 42.2 FG% (273rd), 31.2 3PT% (300th), and 35.4 RPG (180th). The offense is led by sophomore guard Johnny Davis who is averaging 20.3 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 2.4 APG. In the first matchup against Indiana, Wisconsin found themselves down 17 at halftime. They will not want to repeat this performance as coming back on the road is much more challenging than at home.

The Badgers defense seems to do just enough to put themselves in positions to win ball games. This season they are allowing 66.4 PPG (103rd), 43.6 FG% (216th), 33.7 3PT% (193rd), while averaging 5.2 SPG (302nd), and 2.8 BPG (234th). In Wisconsin’s most recent matchup against Rutgers they allowed 51 FG% and 58.3 3PT%. They will need to clean that up or Indiana is going to make it a long night for the Badgers.

INDIANA HOOSIERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 16-8
  • ATS: 13-11
  • O/U: 10-14

Indiana has covered 13 times in their 24 games, but have been excellent covering at home with an 11-4 ATS home record. In their last nine games the Hoosiers are 3-6 ATS. Following that trend, Indiana is just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games against Wisconsin. The total has gone over only 10 times in Hoosiers games this season, but has gone over in four of their last five when playing as the favorite (opened as 3PT favorites in this matchup).

Indiana’s offense has not looked good the past three games, averaging just 56.6 PPG. Up until the three-game losing streak, the Hoosiers offense had been playing well. The Hoosiers on the season are averaging 71.5 PPG (166th), 14.8 APG (72nd), 45.9 FG% (80th), 33.9 3PT% (176th), and 37.4 RPG (77th). The offense is led by sophomore guard Trayce Jackson-Davis who is averaging 17.5 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 1.5 APG. Indiana will look to get out to a quick start like they did in the first matchup against Wisconsin, but playing with that same intensity the second half will be key for the Hoosiers in this one.

Indiana has performed well on the defensive end throughout the season. Coming into Tuesday’s matchup they are allowing 63.8 PPG (42nd), 37.6 FG% (6th), 30.9 3PT% (59th), while averaging 5.8 SPG (258th), and 5.4 BPG (14th). The Hoosiers are just fine on defense, it’s whether or not they can get the offense back on track.

Wisconsin has covered the spread in four of its last six games when playing as the underdog. (AP)

WISCONSIN BADGERS VS. INDIANA HOOSIERS BETTING CONCLUSION

The result of this game will come down to how well Indiana's offense performs. If they play like they have the last three games, it will be a long night. However, if they can get their offensive flow back, expect the Hoosiers to end the game with a win plus cover. Backing Indiana as home favorites in this one at –3.
