NC STATE WOLFPACK vs. SYRACUSE ORANGE BETTING PREDICTION

The Wolfpack of NC State scratched out an impressive come-from-behind victory against Florida State last weekend at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, but the win came at a huge price. QB Devin Leary, the ACC preseason Player of the Year selection, suffered a shoulder injury and was seen roaming the sidelines in the second half wearing a sling. The good news is that Leary will not require corrective surgery, and head coach Dave Doeren said earlier this week that Leary is considered day-to-day. The coach indicated it is an injury which could take a week, or six weeks. No timetable has been set, but it's wait-and-see.

With Leary out, QB Jack Chambers took the reins of the offense and it was a run, run and run some more offense. True freshman QB M.J. Morris could also mix in under center, and fourth-string QB Ben Finley is also a potential candidate to see time if Leary misses time.

The only blemish on the Wolfpack's record is a 30-20 setback at Clemson on Oct. 1. but NC State has failed to cover each of its past three games overall.

Head coach Dino Babers is finally giving Syracuse fans what they have wanted. Competitive football, and a ranking, while coming within one win of bowl eligibility already. It's all coming together for the Orange, and a win over NC State would not only make the Orange bowl eligible, but it would likely scoot them up the rankings, and make them a serious contender in the ACC, although it obviously catches a break with Leary sidelined. The Orange won't apologize for a lucky break after years of bad luck on their end.

NC STATE WOLFPACK BETTING ANALYSIS

NC State is a little tough to figure out this week. Even with Leary under center, this was going to be a tough test. Just ask a team like Purdue, who got locked into a shootout with the Orange earlier in September. The Wolfpack have three options to play under center, and perhaps all three will see action as Doeren tries to figure out how to circle the wagons until Leary is healthy again.

The offense hasn't been that great, even with Leary, posting just 371.7 total yards per game to rank 91st, while scoring 30.5 PPG to check in 67th. The defense has carried the day, and will likely be tasked to do even more while their star QB is out. The D has allowed just 297.8 total yards per game to rank 17th in the nation, while conceding just 15.7 PPG to rank 16th overall.

The Wolfpack are 2-5 ATS in the past seven games overall, while going 1-4 ATS in the past five games on the road. The Pack is also 1-4 ATS in the past five games inside the conference, too, while going 1-4 ATS in the previous five against winning teams, too. NC State has cashed the OVER in four of the past five games inside the conference, while going 5-1 in the past six games after a straight-up victory.

SYRACUSE ORANGE BETTING ANALYSIS

Syracuse thumped Wagner of the FCS last week, 59-0, but that's not really anything to jump up and down about. It was another cover, however, and the Orange are 4-1 ATS in the past five games overall. It is just 1-1 ATS in two games inside the ACC, however, while cashing the UNDER in both league games.

The offense has been a little better for Syracuse than its counterpart, ranking 23rd in the nation with 38.4 PPG, and 190.2 rushing yards per game to check in 35th. Defensively, the Orange rank 9th in the country with just 14.0 PPG allowed, and it is 10th in total yards allowed with 271.6.

Syracuse has covered four of five games overall, while cashing in eight of the past 10 games under the roof. It is just 1-4 ATS in the past five ACC games, however.

For totals, the UNDER is 6-1 in the past seven games at home, while going 5-1 in the past six ACC contests. The UNDER is 4-1 in the past five games against teams with a winning overall record, while going 7-3-1 in the past 11 at home against teams with a winning road mark.
