The Nittany Lions of Penn State head to The Big House looking to move to 3-0 in the conference standings. It has topped Purdue on the road, 35-31, back on Sept. 1, and it eased by Northwestern 17-7 on a soggy track at Beaver Stadium due to the remnants of Hurricane Ian. Penn State has had two full weeks to prepare for the Wolverines in this battle of undefeateds.

The Wolverines of Michigan have registered six straight wins to open the season, including three consecutive victories inside the conference. That includes a 31-10 win at Indiana last time out. The UNDER has hit in all three Big Ten games for the Wolverines.

Michigan leads the all-time series 15-10, including a victory last season in State College by a 21-17 count. Penn State has won three of the past five, however, including the most recent meeting in Ann Arbor on Nov. 28, 2020. Penn state has won seven of the past 12 meetings overall in the series, too.

Penn State has registered five straight wins to open the season, but none of the victories are against ranked opponents. This will be the biggest game of the season, by far, for Penn State, and we'll find out a lot about this team.

The Nittany Lions rank 38th in total yards per game (443.6), while ranking 33rd in rushing yards per game (192.6). It is also rolling up 34.4 PPG to rank 37th in the country, while allowing just 14.8 PPG to check in 13th on scoring defense. However, facing the likes of Purdue, Ohio, Auburn, Central Michigan and Northwestern isn't exactly a murderer's row.

Penn State has cashed in seven of the past 10 games on the road, while going just 2-5 ATS in the past seven games in the month of October. It is also just 2-6 ATS in the past eight tries against Michigan, too.

MICHIGAN WOLVERINES BETTING ANALYSIS

Michigan has been rolling with QB J.J. McCarthy, who has completed 78.3% of his passes for 1,152 yards, 9 TD and 1 INT, while also running for 90 yards and a touchdown. RB Blake Corum has been a beast in the backfield, gashing the opposition for 6.2 yards per attempt, totaling 735 rushing yards with 11 scores in just six outings.

Michigan is 7th in the land with 43.0 PPG, and 5th in scoring defense at 11.3 PPG allowed per game. The defense has been stout, but like Penn State, the schedule has been a little on the light side. Colorado State is terrible. Hawaii is awful. UConn is abysmal. Maryland is OK, but Iowa is a joke offensively, and Indiana isn't exactly a powerhouse. So, like Penn State, this is Michigan's first real test.

Michigan is 14-6 ATS in the past 20 games overall, while cashing in nine of the past 12 Big Ten contests. The Wolverines are just 4-9 ATS in the past 13 games against teams with a winning overall record.
