Ahead of the 52nd American Music Awards, VegasInsider has collected a list of records that could be broken at the 2026 ceremony.

To highlight a few of the records that could be broken:

  1. Taylor Swift could extend her record as the most awarded artist in the history of the AMAs and she could tie the record of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the most AMAs won in a single night (8 awards) - Swift has won 40 AMAs and she is nominated for 8 more awards in 2026, which could bring her new total to 48 awards won.
  2. Kendrick Lamar could become the first Hip-hop artist to ever win in the Artist Of The Year category while Bad Bunny could become the first Latin artist to win in the Artist Of The Year category.
  3. Cardi B (nominated for “ErrTime”) could extend her record as the most awarded artist in the Best Hip-Hop song category - she has won 3 times in the past (2018, 2020, 2021), so a win in 2026 would be her record-extending 4th victory.
  4. Bruno Mars (nominated for “I Just Might”) could break out of his 1st place tie with Michael Jackson and become the sole holder of the record for the most wins in the Best R&B song category - he has won 3 times in the past (2017, 2018 & 2021), so a win in 2026 would be his record-breaking 4th victory.
  5. Justin Bieber could extend his record as the most awarded artist in the Best Male Pop Artist category - he has won 4 times in the past (2010, 2012, 2016 & 2020), so a win in 2026 would be his record-extending 5th victory.
  6. Tyla could become the first South African artist to ever win in the Best Female R&B Artist category.
