Ahead of the 26th BET Awards, VegasInsider has collected a list of records that could be broken at the 2026 ceremony.

To highlight a few of the records that could be broken:

  1. Beyoncé could extend her record as the most awarded person in the history of the BET Awards - she has won 36 BET Awards (including her awards for achievements with Destiny’s Child & The Carters) and she is nominated for 1 more in 2026 in the Fashion Vanguard Award category, which could bring her new total to 37 awards won.
  2. Cardi B (nominated for 6 awards) could break or tie the record for the most BET awards won in a single night - the record is currently jointly held by Beyoncé (5 wins in 2016 & 2017) and Kendrick Lamar (5 wins in 2025); the record could also be tied by Mariah the Scientist who is nominated for 6 awards at the 2026 ceremony (*technically, Mariah the Scientist could also win 6 awards, but she is nominated twice in the Viewer’s Choice category).
  3. SZA (nominated for “Luther” with Kendrick Lamar) could become only the second female artist to win multiple times in the Video Of The Year category, joining Beyoncé who has won 6 times - SZA previously won in 2023 for “Kill Bill” .
  4. Kendrick Lamar could extend his record for the most wins in the Best Male Hip Hop Artist category - he has won 8 times, so a win in 2026 could be his 9th victory.
  5. Raye or Olivia Dean could become the first British female artist to ever win in the Best New Artist category.
  6. Cynthia Erivo could join Taraji P. Henson and become only the second actress to win in consecutive years in the Best Actress category (and only the 4th actress to win on multiple occasions in the category, joining Henson, Halle Berry & Regina King) - Erivo first won in this category last year.
  7. Denzel Washington could extend his record as the most awarded actor in the Best Actor category - he has won 5 times, so a win in 2026 would be his 6th victory.
  8. Michael B. Jordan could become only the second actor to win 4 or more times in the Best Actor category, joining Denzel Washington (5 wins).
