We head out to Kentucky Downs again on Thursday with Belmont Park dark, and do not forget we have Pick 4 and Pick 5 betting with a reduced takeout of just 14%.

The day did not get off to a good start on Wednesday as we whiffed on the first two races, with Country Chick pulling of the upset in the second race to the tune of $248.40.

However, we reeled off the winner on top in the next three races to get things going, and we will try to pad the bankroll today with a good betting card that features a pair of stakes.

The $300,000 Franklin-Simpson drew a field of 12 that will go 6 ½ furlongs. I landed on Angaston who is capable of better than his sixth-place finish at Ellis Park in his last outing.

Today’s feature is the $400,000 Ramsey Farm at 1 5/16 miles and Daring Duchess will represent Ken and Sarah Ramsey in the race.

I landed on Mom’s On Strike, who is coming off a solid runner up finish in the Waya at Saratoga in her last outing for trainer Joe Sharp.

Belmont Park is back in action on Friday and on Saturday we will hop all over the map, making stops at Churchill Downs and Woodbine for Breeders’ Cup Challenge races including the $800,000 Woodbine Mile (G1) which drew a solid field.

Analysis: Son of a Saint tracked the early pace and finished up well in a mild drive to beat Alw-1 foes last out going a mile at Indiana Grand. This guy has won three of his last four starts for the Cox barn. He looks well spotted here in for a $40,000 tag. He should get a good tracking trip sitting just off the pace and the 8-1 morning line looks more than fair.

Aubenas makes is second start off the bench here for the Stall barn. The gelding was not much of a threat last out in a sixth-place finish over yielding ground at Saratoga against Alw-3 optional claimers. he drops into an easier spot here tagged for $40,000. His last win came back last June at Saint Cloud against allowance foes going a mile. The barn is 27% winners with runners making their second start off a +180-day layoff. Leparoux sticks and he should be a decent price.

Analysis: Mom's On Strike tracked the early pace and could not get to Tricky Escape who went gate to wire over a racing strip that was kind to speed in the off the turf Waya at the Spa. The mare was fourth in the New York (G2) two back versus much tougher than these, three exiting the race to win stakes next out including third place finisher Sistercharlie, who won the Diana (G1) and Beverly D (G1) in her next two starts. Three back our top pick won the Bewitch (G3) at Keeneland going 1 1/2 miles. The switch back to turf makes her tough in this spot.

Lottie also exits the Waya where she checked in third. She was a solid second in the Sheepshead Bay (G2) two back at Belmont Park going 1 3/8 miles off a 5 1/2-month layoff. She makes her third start off the layoff here for the Motion barn. She figures to bounce back with a much better effort here. She is proven at the distance and has shown in her last two starts she can sit closer to the pace which will come in handy over the course here.
