Wednesday’s Horse Racing Picks for US based tracks

Horse Racing Action at TVG!
We head off to Tampa Bay Downs and Will Rogers Downs on Wednesday for more horse racing action and the weather looks good in both locales.

We got word that Santa Anita, which hoped to open this weekend will stay closed. The Los Angeles County Health Department closed the track last Friday even though Gov. Newsome had apparently given the track the okay to keep racing.

Santa Anita officials were hoping to get clarification on the ruling and open for Saturday, the card which would have featured the Santa Anita Derby (G1) and Santa Anita Oaks (G2).

The track announced they will not open for the time being. There have been no reported cases of Covid-19 at the track. Golden Gate Fields and Los Alamitos continue to race in California but are located in different counties.

On Thursday we will head back to Gulfstream Park for opening day of their spring/summer meeting as well as checking in on the action from Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Both tracks are still running and hope to continue to race with no spectators with restrictions to keep the grooms, jockeys, trainers and assistant starters safe.

I will continue to post my full card reports daily for Gulfstream Park and my Best Plays from Thursday through Sunday will include my strongest plays from Gulfstream Park and Oaklawn Park.

Horseplayers can stream all the horse racing action using the Watch TVG App. The horse betting company based in the U.S. is offering a risk free bet up to $200 for new players.

My Best Plays Report for Wednesday includes my eight strongest plays from Will Rogers Downs and Tampa Bay Downs.

Wednesday’s Featured Race of the Day from Tampa Bay Downs:

TAM Race 6 Md $16,000 (3:00 ET)
#8 Goneasagirlcanget 8-1
#10 Dakota Beach 7-2
#9 Marchenwald 5-2
#4 Syzygy 15-1

Analysis: Goneasagirlcanget
set the early fractions an got caught late, beaten 3/4 of a length for the top spot as the beaten favorite. She has just one start on turf, a ninth which came against $50,000 foes in her second career outing. Her turf pedigree is on the light side, by First Dude out of a Tale of the Cat mare that has dropped three other foals to race with a pair of dirt winners. She has some early speed and at GP West last fall she was beaten just a head on the main track against much tougher than these. Willing to give her one more look on turf and Centeno sticks with her.

Dakota Beach stalked the early pace and made a mild late run while no match for the winner in a runner up finish here at 23-1. She outran her odds two back as well with a fourth at 43-1. She makes her third start of her current form cycle and looks like a good fit in this spot. The price will be a lot shorter and the outside post does her no favors.

Wagering
WIN: #8 to win at 5-1 or better.
EX: 8,10 / 4,8,9,10
TRI: 8,10 / 4,8,9,10 / 3,4,8,9,10

Wednesday’s Featured Race of the Day from Will Rogers Downs:

WRD Race 4 OClm $5,000SAL (2:45 CT)
#6 Soaring Now 5-2
#1 Tic Toc Toccet 9-2
#3 Magic in Motion Gp 2-1
#7 Seynatawnee 6-1

Analysis: Soaring Now
made a mild late rally to finish fourth last out at Fair Grounds versus similar company. This gal has run consistent numbers over her last doze starts and has shown an ability to close or sit close to the pace like she did three and five back. She owns a solid pace profile throughout with the edge in late pace numbers. She has landed in the exacta in 11 of her last 17 starts and is going to be tough in this spot in her local debut.

Tic Toc Toccet switches back to dirt after making a good late rally to finish third last out on turf at Sam Houston against $15,000 starter optional claimers. She is much better on dirt and has run really well over the main track here winning 5 of 8 trips with a couple of thirds. She won back to back races here last spring for a $5,000 tag and just needs to see a little pace in front of her here.
