NBA: Warriors vs. Timberwolves Game 2 Prediction

NBA fans can direct their undivided attention to the Target Center, where the Golden State Warriors will face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves in a rare standalone game this Thursday night.

The Warriors shocked the T-Wolves in game one with a decisive 99-88 victory. Minnesota made a charge in the 4th quarter, but it was too little, too late, as Golden State escaped with a victory.

GSW @ MIN Odds

In devastating news, Golden State lost Steph Curry in the first half to a soft tissue injury. He is out for “at least” a week.

Soft tissue injuries can be tricky - it is the first for Curry in his career, so be sure to keep a close eye on how his recovery goes. But the urgency for Minnesota certainly has to kick in.

Not only is this a big swing in their direction in terms of momentum, but they have to feel like they need to get this series out of the way as fast as possible to potentially avoid a Curry return.

In terms of how Minnesota will respond, all eyes will be on Anthony Edwards, who was abysmal in the first half of game one, shooting 0 for 8 from the field with only one point to show for his effort. Yet, Ant still managed to finish with 23 points, as he definitely found his groove by being aggressive and attacking the rim in the second half.

Similar to game two of the Los Angeles series, where Edwards turned in his worst effort in a loss, he followed it up with a 29-8-8 performance in game three. I expect more of the same here from Ant in this spot, as he should rebound in a big way.

Without Curry, it’ll be much harder for Golden State moving forward. The acquisition of Jimmy Butler looks that much better as insurance for Curry’s unfortunate injury, but this is a team without size and rim protection on one end, and just lost their offensive identity and ecosystem on the other.

The fear that Edwards won't hit this line has to be the spread is all the way up to double digits. Similar to game five of the Houston series, Kerr may elect to punt tonight’s game if Minnesota takes a big lead early to get back on track before two at home in Golden State.

However, with these playoffs, never say never. Kerr has had a knack for getting the most out of role players in the past (see Buddy Hield). Hopefully, Golden State can keep this one close - if so, expect Ant to soar past this number.

PICK: ANTHONY EDWARDS OVER 40.5 POINTS, REBOUNDS & ASSISTS
