The upcoming NBA season begins on December 22 as betting odds on who will win the NBA Rookie of the Year award for the 2020-21 campaign are out. The favorite wasn't even one of the top two selections in the NBA Draft as guard LaMelo Ball was selected third by the Charlotte Hornets. Ball is currently the favorite at +390 odds (Bet $100 to win $390) looking to become the first Charlotte player to win Rookie of the Year award since Emeka Okafor in 2005. Behind Ball are the top two selections in the draft as Anthony Edwards and James Wiseman are each listed at +480 odds to capture the award. Edwards, the University of Georgia standout who left after his freshman season, went first to Minnesota, while Wiseman was snatched up by the Warriors with the second pick. One of the more intriguing players to keep an eye on is Dayton forward Obi Toppin, who is heading to New York. Toppin, selected eighth by the Knicks, is listed at 7/1 odds to become the first New York player to become Rookie of the Year since Mark Jackson in 1987. ![]() AP Player of the Year Obi Toppin looks to make an impact after being drafted 8th by the Knicks.
