CALGARY FLAMES vs. LOS ANGELES KINGS PREDICTIONS

The first-place Flames head to Los Angeles to battle the second-place Kings on Monday night. Calgary has 89 points and a plus-67 goal differential through 68 games, but it is 0-2-1 across the past three games, including a 3-2 shootout loss to Los Angeles in Calgary on March 31. The Kings have managed with 86 points through 71 games, while posting a plus-3 goal differential overall. But L.A. played with more desperation in the most recent meeting to close the gap slightly.

Still, the Flames have three games in hand, and they're still very much the favorites to win the Pacific Division title. However, the walls have crumbled slightly in the past week, and the Kings can keep up the pressure with another win on home ice.

CALGARY FLAMES BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 44-19-5
  • ATS: 30-38
  • O/U: 38-27-3

The Flames were outpaced by the visiting St. Louis Blues on Saturday by a 6-4 score, their third consecutive loss. They ended up 2-3-1 in six games on the recently completed homestand, struggling rather than putting a ton of distance between themselves and the Kings, which could have seemingly put the Pacific Division out of reach. There is still plenty of time, however, and the Flames could put at least one of the nails into the coffin with a win.

The Flames are still 20-9 in the past 29 games overall, while going 14-6 in the past 20 against Western Conference teams and 7-3 in the past 10 against Pacific Division foes. They're also 5-1 in the past six as a road favorite, so perhaps getting back on the road will be good for them.

For totals, the OVER is 8-1-2 in the past 11 as a road favorite, while going 10-3-3 in the past 16 games on the road. The OVER is 22-10-2 in the past 34 games against Pacific Division teams, too.

LOS ANGELES KINGS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 43-18-7
  • ATS: 31-37
  • O/U: 34-32-2

For the Kings, they haven't been able to string together a lot of success. Los Angeles is just 1-4 in the past five as a home underdog, while going 1-5 in the past six games following a victory, too.

The Kings will be playing their fourth game in the past six days, and L.A. is 4-10 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation. The Kings also have a case of the Mondays, too, going 8-22 in the past 30 Monday contests.

As far as totals are concerned, the OVER is 5-2-1 in the past eight games overall, while going 3-0-1 in the past four at home. The OVER is 3-1-1 in the past five against the Pacific Division, while going 5-2-1 in the past eight against the Western Conference, too. The OVER is 9-4 in the past 13 against winning teams, too.

The Flames have hit the OVER at a 10-3-3 clip in the past 16 road games. (AP)

CALGARY FLAMES vs. LOS ANGELES KINGS BETTING CONCLUSION

This is a huge game for a Monday night. It might not necessarily have been scheduled that way, but the Flames have been the gold standard in the Pacific Division this season, and the Kings have had a surprisingly good season, emerging as a top playoff contender in the Pacific, and the Western Conference.

The Flames suffered a 3-2 shootout loss against the Kings on March 31 in Calgary, as Cal Petersen outdueled Jacob Markstrom in a well-played game. Imagine if these teams were to hook up in the playoffs. It's very, very possible. The Dec. 2 meeting in L.A. was also a one-goal game, with the Flames winning 3-2. This is the final regular-season meeting, and it's likely a good bet that we'll get a 3-2 score since that's what has happened in the first two meetings. Take the UNDER for the best bet, and roll with the Kings, who have been playing a touch better than the Flames overall lately.
