TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS vs. FLORIDA PANTHERS PREDICTIONS

The Maple Leafs registered a 6-2 victory over the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday in Tampa, as Auston Matthews scored three more goals to tie the franchise's single-season record for goals with 54. He has now scored a goal in six consecutive games, and the hat trick was his fourth of the season, and seventh of his career. His partner in crime, Mitchell Marner, has registered six goals and 22 points during a 10-game point streak, too.

The Panthers are looking for a little revenge after a 5-2 loss in Toronto on March 27, as the total pushed in that one. That loss served as a wake-up call, as the Panthers have registered four consecutive wins, all the while becoming the first team in the NHL to clinch a playoff spot. However, the four-game win streak consists of victories against the Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres, four teams likely to be on the couch watching the playoffs.

Like the Leafs, it's been all about the OVER lately, as you don't see many totals of UNDER 7 in the NHL. Well, these days you do, but it's a rather new occurrence. The OVER is 34-15-3 in the past 52 games overall, while going 21-7-1 in the past 29 games at home. The OVER is also an insane 21-4-2 in the past 27 against Eastern Conference teams, too, while going 9-1-2 in the past 12 against Atlantic Division teams.

The Panthers have owned this series lately, at least at home, going 6-1 in the past seven meetings against the Leafs at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise. The home team has cashed in 14 of the past 17 games at home, with the OVER 4-0-1 in the past five meetings.

TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS vs. FLORIDA PANTHERS CONCLUSION

These are two red-hot teams, and the two Atlantic Division teams could be on a collision course for a playoff series, too. Both sides have tremendous, high-octane offenses, and adequate goaltending. The defense could use a little assistance, but some of the brightest offensive stars reside on the rosters of these two, from Jonathan Huberdeau and Sam Reinhart, as well as Aleksander Barkov, while the Leafs have the likes of AM34, Marner and John Tavares, as well as William Nylander.

As such, this will be a game of fire-wagon hockey. We'll see plenty of offense, and very little resistance. Playing the Leafs lightly on the road as a moderate underdog is the way to go, as they're easily the better value straight up. They're also not terribly expensive on the puck line if you don't trust them to win outright. But the best play on the board is the OVER.
