PITTSBURGH PENGUINS vs. NEW YORK RANGERS PREDICTIONS

The Penguins and Rangers are meeting for the third time just since March 25, and Pittsburgh hopes that the third time is a charm. New York picked up a 5-1 win at Madison Square Garden on March 25 in the first game as the OVER connected. Igor Shesterkin also bested Tristan Jarry in the second meeting on March 29, as the Blueshirts posted a 3-2 victory as the UNDER cashed. The Pens did win Feb. 26 by a 1-0 score, as Jarry edged Shesterkin in that one in the Steel City.

The Rangers have lost just once in regulation in the past seven games, going 5-1-1. The Blueshirts are coming off a 3-1 road win over the rival New Jersey Devils on Tuesday as the UNDER cashed. New York currently sits in second place in the Metropolitan Division behind the first-place Carolina Hurricanes by two points with 96, while the Canes also have a game in hand. The Pens are four points back of the Rangers with 92, and they do have a plus-43 goal differential to just plus-31 for the Rangers.

PITTSBURGH PENGUINS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 41-20-10
  • ATS: 35-36
  • O/U: 35-33-3

The Penguins were dusted 6-4 against the Colorado Avalanche at home on Tuesday, falling in the second end of the home-and-home with Colorado. Pittsburgh is just 2-4-1 across the past seven outings, a terrible time to play some of your worst hockey of the season.

Pittsburgh has also posted a 1-4 record in the past five games against teams with a winning record, although the Pens are 8-2 in the past 10 as a road favorite. They're also 17-8 in the past 25 games on the road, too.

For totals, the OVER has hit in five of the past seven games overall, although the UNDER is 9-3-1 in the past 13 games on the road, while going 5-2 in the past seven as a road favorite, too. The UNDER is also 5-1-1 in the past seven inside the division.

NEW YORK RANGERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 45-20-6
  • ATS: 35-36
  • O/U: 28-41-2

The Rangers have played well lately, winning five of the past seven games overall, including a pair of wins over the Penguins. The Rangers have won five in a row against teams with a winning overall record, too.

The Blueshirts are underdogs at home, which is a bit surprising. They're 5-0 in the past five as an underdog, while going 6-1 in the past seven as a home 'dog, too. New York has won 22 of the past 31 games at home, while going 29-10 in the past 39 inside the Eastern Conference.

In terms of the total, the UNDER has cashed in 12 of the past 17 games inside the Eastern Conference, while going 8-3 in the past 11 against Metropolitan Division foes.

PITTSBURGH PENGUINS vs. NEW YORK RANGERS BETTING CONCLUSION

In this series, the home team has connected in nine of the past 12 meetings, while the favorite is 7-3 in the past 10 outings. The OVER has been the rule in this series, going 8-2 in the past 10 meetings in New York, including the most recent battle. While the UNDER is 2-1 in the first three meetings this season, the OVER is 21-7-5 in the past 33 meetings overall.

I just don't trust the Penguins, as the Rangers have seemingly had their number lately, winning each of the two meetings just since March 25. I also trust Igor Shesterkin in between the pipes way more than Tristan Jarry, who hasn't been able to slay top-notch opponents. The trend should continue, too.
