ST. LOUIS BLUES vs. MINNESOTA WILD PREDICTIONS

The Blues won all three regular-season meetings, including the outdoor game at Target Field in Minneapolis on New Year's Day, 6-4. St. Louis also won both of the meetings at Enterprise Center on home ice, posting a 6-5 overtime victory against Minnesota on April 16 as the OVER cashed, and 4-3 in overtime on April 8, against an OVER result. The outdoor game also went well OVER, so expect not much change in this series opener.

St. Louis has dominated Minnesota over the years, winning 13 of the previous 16 meetings, with the OVER hitting in four straight in the series, and four in a row in the state of Minnesota, too. Look for more of the same here.

St. LOUIS BLUES BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 49-22-11
  • ATS: 47-35
  • O/U: 43-34-5

The Blues lost consecutive games to close out the regular season, its first two consecutive setbacks since March 24-26. That mini-skid also marked the first two losses in regulation since late March. During the win streak the Blues picked up a pair of overtime wins over the Wild behind Ville Husso. Jordan Binnington won the New Year's Day game.

The Blues have cashed in seven of the past eight games on the road, while winning six of the past eight as a road 'dog, too. However, all arrows aren't pointing in the favor of St. Louis, as it is 0-6 in the past six playoff games as an underdog.

MINNESOTA WILD BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 53-22-7
  • ATS: 40-42
  • O/U: 46-33-3

The Wild have won 21 of the past 28 games overall, while going 6-1 in the past seven against winning teams. But they're 0-1-2 in three meetings with the Blues this season, and Minnesota is just 2-9 in the past 11 playoff games as a favorite, while going 1-5 in the past six during the Quarterfinals round, too.

Minnesota picked up Marc-Andre Fleury at the trade deadline, but he has yet to face the Blues in a Wild sweater. However, he was 0-3-0 with a 3.36 GAA and .903 SV% in three meetings against the Blues while playing for the Chicago Blackhawks. Cam Talbot started the first three meetings against St. Louis, going 0-1-2 with a 5.92 GAA and .814 SV%. It will be interesting to see how head coach Dean Evason handles his goaltending situation in this series.

ST. LOUIS BLUES vs. MINNESOTA WILD CONCLUSION

The Blues have dominated the Wild this season, and losing home-ice advantage with that two-game losing streak to close out the regular season shouldn't make much of a difference. Minnesota just seems to shoot itself in the foot in key situations when facing St. Louis.

St. Louis has won five of the past seven trips to the Twin Cities, while winning 13 of the previous 16 in this series. The OVER is also 4-0 in the previous four meetings, including all three this season, while going 4-0 in the past four meetings in St. Paul, too. Look for another high-scoring game in Game 1, and play the Blues, a nice value as a moderate underdog. In fact, OVER and St. Louis is a nice little parlay opportunity.
