COLORADO AVALANCHE vs. NASHVILLE PREDATORS PREDICTIONS

The Avalanche piled up the goals in Game 3 at Bridgestone Arena, lighting the lamp at least two times in each of period in the 7-3 win. Connor Ingram was sharp in Game 2, forcing the Avalanche to overtime before eventually falling 2-1. He wasn't as sharp at home in Game 3, allowing two first-period power-play goals by Artturi Lehkonen and Nathan MacKinnon, while Gabriel Landeskog and Nazem Kadri struck on the man advantage in the second period. The Preds have two power-play goals by Eeli Tolvanen and Roman Josi to hand around midway through the second, but it wasn't nearly enough.

It wasn't all great for the Avalanche, as backup goaltender Pavel Francouz was thrust into duty after a freak injury to Darcy Kuemper. The latter caught an inadvertent stick from Ryan Johansen into the cat's eye portion of his goalie mask, and he was unable to return. The hole is just large enough for a puck or stick to get in, as goalie's like the hole to be large to improve their vision. But there is always a risk of injury, and it happened here. Kuemper has swelling in the area, and head coach Jared Bednar said it's possible the starting tendy could play Game 4 if the swelling subsides. Even if Francouz gets his first start, Colorado is the play.

COLORADO AVALANCHE BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 59-19-7
  • ATS: 41-44
  • O/U: 44-36-5

The Avalanche are 3-for-3 in this series, and only one of the games has been a difficult time. While the Avs are up in the series 3-0, they are dealing with a little bit of adversity with Kuemper dealing with an eye injury. But they're in more than capable hands if Francouz is forced to start, and they have the offense to give him plenty of support.

The Avalanche are 11-1 in the past 12 Western Conference Quarterfinals Round games, while going 25-10 in the past 35 playoff games when favored. They're also 15-7 in the past 22 as a road favorite, too.

On totals, the OVER is 4-1 in the past five games as a favorite, and 5-1 in the past six Western Conference Quarterfinals Round games. However, the UNDER is 4-1 in the past five on the road, and 4-1 in the past five as a road favorite, although that lone OVER result happened in Game 3.

NASHVILLE PREDATORS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 45-33-7
  • ATS: 45-40
  • O/U: 51-34

The Avalanche have pushed the Predators to the brink, and Nashville must now rattle off four straight wins against the No. 1 seed to keep its season alive. It isn't going to happen. In fact, a team has climbed out of an 0-3 series hole to win on just four occasions in NHL history, with the last occasion coming in 2014 in the first round when the Los Angeles Kings came all the way back against the San Jose Sharks in 2014.

Nashville has dropped four in a row, while going just 1-4 in the past five games at home. They're also 1-6 in the past seven games as an underdog, while going 0-5 in the previous five playoff games as a 'dog. They have also dropped six straight Western Conference Quarterfinals games, too, so history is certainly against them.

The OVER has connected in seven of the past eight games for the Predators, while going 5-1 in the past six at home and 6-1 in the past seven as an underdog. The OVER is also 6-1 in the past seven meetings, and 18-7-1 in the past 26 in the Music City.

COLORADO AVALANCHE vs. NASHVILLE PREDATORS CONCLUSION

The Avalanche have the brooms out and they're ready to sweep the Predators. Nashville has ruled out Juuse Saros (lower body injury) for Game 4, and his return might have been the only thing to save them from the broom.

Ingram is likely to make the start again in Game 4, but regardless if it is he or David Rittich who gets the starting nod, the Predators just do not have the horses on offense to stay with the Avalanche for a full 60 minutes. Like Game 2, I think we see a little more offense and some lower scores in this one, but the win-loss result will be the same, and Nashville will be forced to the handshake line and golf course.
