Juventus vs Wydad AC Predictions, Odds and Best Bet

Juventus will face Wydad AC on Sunday at noon EDT in Club World Cup Match action from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA.
Juventus started the tournament impressively, defeating Al Ain FC in Washington, D.C. They scored five goals for the first time this season, four of which came in the first half. The Bianconeri are now in a strong position to secure qualification for the Round of 16 with one game remaining. It is worth noting that Juventus has been placed in a relatively easy group, so anything less than six points from their opening two matches would be seen as a disappointment.
On the other hand, Wydad AC faced a challenging match against the superior squad of Manchester City. The Moroccan team opted to play a defensive game but conceded a goal just 120 seconds into the match, forcing them to chase an equalizer. They did create a promising scoring opportunity in the second half, but it was missed.
In total, they managed to take 12 shots, compared to Manchester City's 15, although eight of their attempts were from outside the box. With bookmakers ranking Juventus as the clear favorites in the 1X2 market, the focus may shift to the margin of victory for the Italian side rather than simply securing the three points.
Sportsbooks are not hopeful of Wydad AC pulling off the upset, giving Juventus an implied probability of 80% to win (-400 on the moneyline).

Analysis of the Match
The 5-0 drubbing of Al-Ain was the first time since February that Juventus have scored more than three goals. We should bear that in mind when contemplating whether or not Juventus has morphed into a new beast in the US.
In fairness, although many will remember Juventus’ season as one that often saw low-scoring games and one dominated by draws, they did score two or more goals in 19 of 38 (50%) fixtures. Igor Tudor will be desperate to tick off another two or more here.
Randal Kolo Muani, Francisco Conceiçao, and Kenan Yildiz all scored and performed well on MD1. Their inventiveness and goalscoring capabilities will need to continue throughout this competition this summer if they are to beat Wydad here on MD2 and to be taken seriously in the latter stages.
Their Moroccan opponents will likely employ a game plan similar to the one they used when they faced Manchester City in Philadelphia. They’ll harass and apply pressure out of possession, with a focus on not losing the game rather than setting out to edge in front. That kind of approach feeds into transitional play and counterattacks.
If Juventus commits too many bodies upfield and abandons their principles in the defensive third, this might prove to be what the Europeans call a ‘banana skin’ type of fixture.
Wydad was competitive against City, registering 12 attempts to City’s 15 and four corners to the victors’ nine. The one Big Chance missed suggests that when the opportunity presents itself, Wydad will try and take it. Whether they can or not will ultimately decide the course of the result.
Juventus Analysis and Form
As impressive as the scoreline from MD1 was for The Old Lady in the opening game, Juventus needs to remove it from their thinking as soon as possible. Wydad AC is not Al-Ain. This is a step up in class.
The Italians won’t be 4-0 up and cruising at the half-time interval this time around. If any overconfidence is lingering in the Juventus squad and they take the Moroccans for granted, they could be in for a shock.
Including the last five Serie A matches of the season, Juventus are now six games unbeaten heading into the second match of the tournament. Igor Tudor has lost only one fixture from the ten he’s overseen, collecting more yellow cards (2) than he has defeats.
Juventus dominated from the opening stages. They suffocated their opponents and looked comfortable throughout the match. The gulf in quality between the two teams was evident, making it difficult to be too buoyant about the result. However, as the old saying goes, you can only beat what is in front of you.
Wydad AC Analysis and Form
Manchester City were relatively comfortable throughout versus Wydad AC, but the Moroccans had their chances in the game. They appeared bright and direct in possession, typically aiming to force transitional opportunities to turn the ball over and advance up the pitch.
Out of possession, as they may be once again for the majority of the game against Juventus, Wydad AC employs a compact 5-4-1 shape on paper, with the midfield dropping deep whilst the lone frontman offers an out-ball.
It’ll be another challenging game against European opposition on MD2. However, if they can avoid conceding in the opening minutes - as they did against Manchester City - and take one of their chances, then they might be able to spring a surprise.
Head-to-Head Analysis
Juventus’ experience against teams from outside Europe is limited to the Intercontinental Cup. It’s a competition the Bianconeri played in three times and won twice. Once, in 1985, against Argentinos Juniors, and again in 1996, against River Plate.
Before this tournament, Wydad AC had also played three intercontinental games, but had lost all of them. The Moroccans have been defeated by Pachuca (1-0 in extra time) and Urawa Red Diamonds (3-2) in 2017, as well as by Al-Hilal, 6-4 on penalties, in 2022.
Team News and Predicted Lineups
Juventus possible starting lineup:
Di Gregorio; Savona, Baio, Kelly; Kalulu, Thuram, McKennie, Cambiaso; Yildiz, Kolo Muani, Conceicao
Wydad AC possible starting lineup:
Benabid; Moufid, Ferreira, Meijers, Boutouil, Moufi; Amrabat, Zemraoui, El Moubarik, Lorch; Mailula.
Both sides survived their Matchday One fixtures unscathed. The only thing worth noting is that this could be an opportunity for Igor Tudor to rotate his squad slightly ahead of the Group G showdown with Manchester City.
Tudor had that luxury on Matchday One with his side 4-0 up at halftime. Douglas Luiz and Timothy Weah replaced Khephren Thuram and Andrea Cambiaso for the second half against Al-Ain. If they don’t make the starting lineup here and Juventus race to an early lead, then they may get some serious game time again.
