PSG vs. Inter Miami Predictions, Odds and Pick

PSG will face Inter Miami on Sunday at noon ET in the Club World Cup Round of 16 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
A nostalgic clash awaits Lionel Messi as Inter Miami prepares to face his former club, the newly crowned Champions League winners. While all eyes are on the Argentine icon, it is his former club that carries the burden of expectation to win. The French side enters the match as overwhelming favorites in the odds for PSG vs. Inter Miami, leaving the 38-year-old's current team as the significant underdog.
The Parisians now appear stronger than ever—reformed, youthful, and far more cohesive than during the star-studded era that included Messi himself. Inter Miami's recent success has been a welcome surprise, but they have yet to confront a challenge of this magnitude.
Having finally secured the one trophy that long eluded them, PSG aims to extend their dominance on the global stage. With bookmakers naming them the top favorites to win, their ambition is clear.

Analysis of the Match
Inter Miami has already made history as the first MLS team to reach the Club World Cup knockout rounds. Can they now go one step further and knock out PSG?
Inter Miami’s journey began with a standout performance from goalkeeper Óscar Ustari in a 0-0 draw against Al Ahly. They then achieved a remarkable 2-1 comeback win over FC Porto, highlighted by a classic Lionel Messi free kick, the first time an MLS team defeated a European opponent in official competition.
A 2-2 draw versus Palmeiras, featuring goals from Luis Suárez and Tadeo Allende, secured their progress to the knockout stage.
Messi is set to face PSG, his former team from 2021 to 2023, after the French side's 2-0 victory against Seattle Sounders, with goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Achraf Hakimi.
As the reigning European champions, PSG enter as favourites, having won seven of their last eight matches and keeping four clean sheets in their previous five.
Although Javier Mascherano’s team is seen as the underdog, Messi's track record of always advancing past the group stages in his illustrious career adds to the intrigue for this Round of 16 matchup in Atlanta.
Miami is unbeaten in its last six games, and while PSG is expected to control the match and advance to the quarter-finals, this encounter promises an exciting, goal-filled contest.
PSG Analysis and Form
We all know what kind of season PSG have just enjoyed. French champions once again, Luis Enrique & co. ensured that the Champions League was no longer a tournament in which the club and its players wilted under pressure.
Inter Milan was cast aside with ease after Premier League trio Liverpool, Arsenal, and Aston Villa fell to defeat at the Parisians’ feet.
However, with such a successful campaign comes lots of games. Making it to the final of those tournaments, on top of a lengthy domestic season, means players feature in plenty of matches across Europe. Including the Club World Cup, this will be PSG’s 62nd game in all competitions.
The Seattle win was relatively comfortable. However, compared to the season they’ve just had, PSG’s performance has become less full-throttle and pleasurable from a spectator’s point of view.
The narrow defeat to Botafogo will have provided a stimulus for any PSG players thinking this would be a straightforward month in the United States.
The 2-0 win against Seattle Sounders, a team they were expected to beat as heavy 1.17/-558 favorites, doesn’t necessarily mean they’re back at the optimum level.
Luis Enrique will remind his players that if they’re not at it from the first whistle against the likes of Lionel Messi, there’s an opportunity here for PSG to leave the competition having not fulfilled their objectives.
Inter Miami Analysis and Form
Inter Miami is unbeaten in the Club World Cup heading into the Round of 16.
After their 0-0 draw with Al Ahly on the opening matchday, not many people would have expected that first sentence to be rolled out ahead of the first knockout game following the group stages.
Coming from 1-0 down against European outfit Porto before taking a 2-0 lead against group winners Palmeiras suggests that this is a side that everyone should take seriously.
The bookmakers aren't of the same view, making Inter Miami sizable 15.00/+1400 underdogs.
However, anything is possible when you've got Lionel Messi in your ranks, a player PSG supporters and Luis Enrique are familiar with. The Parisians will be hesitant to make fouls or concede possession in their defensive third, perhaps providing the necessary doubt and anxiety needed for Inter Miami to capitalize on.
PSG, without a doubt, poses the Americans' most significant test yet, but let's not rule them out completely.
Head-to-Head
As PSG and Inter Miami prepare for their Round of 16 clash, the spotlight is firmly on Lionel Messi's reunion with his former club, PSG, and manager, Luis Enrique, from his Barcelona days.
Messi spent two seasons at PSG, tallying 32 goals and 35 assists in 75 appearances across all competitions.
Before that, the Argentine maestro enjoyed a successful three-season stint at Barcelona under Luis Enrique, winning two La Liga titles, one Champions League trophy, and three Copa del Rey trophies.
During this period, Messi netted an impressive 153 goals and recorded 73 assists in 158 matches, marking his second-best goal-involvement ratio under any manager.
Inter Miami's Luis Suárez also shares a history with Enrique, having been brought to Barcelona by him from Liverpool. During their three seasons together in Catalunya, the Uruguayan forward scored 121 goals, nearly half of which (59) came in the 2015/2016 season, his most prolific to date.
Team News and Predicted Lineups
PSG's possible starting lineup:
Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz; Doue, Ramos, Kvaratskhelia
Inter Miami's possible starting lineup:
Ustari; Weigandt, Aviles, Falcon, Alba; Allende, Redondo, Busquets, Segovia; Messi, Suarez
Expect Luis Enrique to name the strongest team possible. Senny Mayulu came in for the Parisians against the Seattle Sounders. It would be a surprise to see him start again with Goncalo Ramos on the bench.
Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will likely remain in vast areas, although Bradley Barcola could be a potential addition. It looks like it will still be too soon for Ousmane Dembele to return to the squad as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
This fixture should come too soon for each of David Ruiz, Drake Callender, Gonzalo Lujan, and Yannick Bright. Jordi Alba hasn’t yet started at this tournament. Given his experience, head coach Javier Mascherano could call upon him here.
Odds Discussion
The bookmakers have latched on to what they view, in their eyes, as a significant gulf in class and quality with how they've priced this upcoming Round of 16 fixture. Inter Miami will start the match as the major outsiders.
The Herons is currently the biggest outsider in the betting for this side of the draw. The MLS-based club's price to overcome PSG in 90 minutes and progress to the quarter-final will present one of the most significant price opportunities for punters seeking a potential upset.
Recent Champions League winners, Paris Saint-Germain, have been handed a -2.0 Asian Handicap to overcome. That requires the French champions to record a three-goal margin to make the selection a success.
Punters might be skeptical of taking on such a tall handicap. However, we should be wary that PSG has already overcome such a handicap on MD1 against what was supposed to be their leading contenders for 1st position in Group B, Atlético Madrid.
Considering the pricing structure, it might surprise you that the 'Both Teams to Score - No' market is priced as the slight favourite, with the bookmakers refusing to rule out Inter Miami's chances of scoring. With Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez up front, despite their advancing years, that's potentially a shrewd move.
BEST BET: Both Teams to Score - Yes (-125)
