Another round of the Subway Series gets started on Monday when the Mets visit the Yankees for two games. The New York Yankees enjoyed a comfortable double-digit lead in the American League East just one month ago and now are up just eight games on the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays. The Baltimore Orioles are also in the hunt at 10.5 games back. The division race is wide open because this last month of baseball will feature a ton of division matchups. The Yankees need to start winning again to lock up first place.

Buck Showalter, one time skipper of the Yankees from 1992 to 1995, never got to manage the subway series because interleague play was not a thing. Buck Showalter and New York Mets won both games against the Yankees at Citi Field back in late July by a combined score of 9-5. The Mets currently hold a four-game advantage over the Atlanta Braves for the National League East division crown and would like to increase that over the next couple days.

The World Series could very well be this matchup, the battle for New York. That would be an electric atmosphere and we expect this atmosphere to be just as electric.

The New York Mets will have ace Max Scherzer on the hill, who at the age of 38 is having another spectacular season. The bullpen will have to be sharp, and even with all the injuries sustained still own the best bullpen ERA tied with the Astros at 3.01.

The over 19-9-2 in their last 30 interleague games. The over might be worth a look because the trends indicate some high scoring affairs.
