The Dallas Cowboys will take on the host Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday in Week 2 of the preseason. Kickoff is slated for 10 p.m. ET from SoFi Stadium. Coverage will be nationally televised on NFL Network. 

The Broncos beat the visiting Cowboys 17-7 in Week 1 of the preseason. Denver jumped out to a 17-0 lead through the first three quarters before the Cowboys tacked up on their lone touchdown. Backup quarterback Ben DiNucci threw a 12-yard touchdown to Simi Fehoko in the fourth quarter. Brandon Smith caught a 40-yard reception. Malik Davis rushed for 51 yards on his eight carries.

The Chargers fell 29-22 to the defending Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams in Week 1 of the preseason. Rams backup quarterback Bryce Perkins connected with Lance McCutcheon for the 11-yard deciding score with 6:11 remaining.

Easton Stick and Chase Daniel split time at quarterback for the Chargers. Stick completed 16 of his 23 passes for 119 yards and an interception. Daniel went 11-for-17 with 117 yards and two touchdowns, along with a 22-yard run. Michael Bandy caught seven receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown. Joe Reed hauled in a 44-yard reception. 

Last season, the Cowboys’ offense ranked first in points (31.2), tied for second in passing yards (282.4), and ninth in rushing yards (124.6). Quarterback Dak Prescott passed for 4,449 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb tallied a team-best 79 receptions for 1,102 yards in addition to six receiving touchdowns. Amari Cooper, who’s now on the Cleveland Browns, amassed 68 receptions for 865 yards and tied for the team-high with eight receiving touchdowns. 

Tight end Dalton Schultz hauled in 78 receptions, 808 yards, and eight touchdowns. Running back Ezekiel Elliott anchored the rushing attack with 1,002 yards and 10 touchdowns. Tony Pollard rushed for 719 yards and two touchdowns. 

Defensively, the Cowboys ranked seventh in points allowed (21.1). Linebacker Micah Parsons paced the Cowboys with a team-best 13 sacks along with 84 tackles. Cornerback Trevon Diggs led the Cowboys with 11 interceptions including two pick sixes. Safety Jayron Kearse was tops on the Cowboys with 101 tackles and also had two interceptions. 

Last season, the Chargers’ offense ranked second in passing yards (282.4), fifth in points (27.9), and 21st in rushing yards (107.9). Quarterback Justin Herbert passed for 5,014 yards, 38 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. Wide receiver Keenan Allen compiled a team-best 106 receptions, plus 1,138 yards and six receiving touchdowns. Wide receiver Mike Williams grabbed 76 receptions and had team highs in receiving yards (1,146) and receiving touchdowns (9). 

Versatile running back Austin Ekeler amassed 911 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground, while snagging 70 receptions for 647 yards and eight scores. 

Defensively, the Chargers tied for third in points allowed (27.0). Linebacker Joey Bosa led the way with 10.5 sacks. Kyzir White, now a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, recorded a team-high 144 tackles plus two interceptions. Safety Derwin James Jr. tallied 118 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions. 

Last season, the Cowboys captured the NFC East with a 12-5 record then fell to the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round. The Chargers posted a winning record at 9-8 but missed the postseason. 

The Chargers are favored by 3.5 points against the Cowboys. For the money line, it’s Cowboys +145 and Chargers -170. The over/under is set for 37.5 points.
