Colorado Rockies fans will be looking for a change of fortune in this week’s three-game series against a NL West rival. Fresh in their minds is the Giants’ three-game sweep in San Francisco earlier this month. These teams have headed in different directions since that series coming into Monday night’s opener at Coors Field.

MLB bettors in Colorado can take advantage of a special promotional offer for this game. New customers at Sports Illustrated Sportsbook can earn $300 on a $20 bet. Win or lose, that $20 wager can turn into $300 in free-bet credit through this special offer from VegasInsider. Simply apply the promo code AFF300 during the online registration process.

The first meeting this season between the Giants and Rockies did not go as planned for Colorado. San Francisco won the opener 8-5 as a heavy -250 home favorite. The Giants ended up outscoring Colorado 24-8 in the three-game sweep. The total went OVER SI Sportsbook’s closing line in all three games.

Monday’s series opener at Coors Field is slated for 8:40 p.m. (ET). The Giants come into this game with a 6-2 record in their last eight games. They lost the last two outings of a three-game weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

SI Sportsbook has opened San Francisco as a -150 road favorite on the moneyline for Monday night. The game’s total has been set at 11.5 runs after going OVER in five of its last six games.

Colorado is +130 underdog at home for Game 1. Since losing all three games to San Francisco last week, the Rockies have only posted one win in their last seven games. They lost two of three games against Kansas City at home this past weekend. The total has gone OVER in Colorado’s last six games.

Look for left-hander Alex Wood to get the start for the Giants in this game. He is 3-2 on the year with a 3.60 ERA and a WHIP of 1.37. Wood allowed seven hits with no earned runs over 5.1 innings pitched in last Tuesday’s win against Colorado.

The Rockies will counter with Antonio Senzatela on the mound. The right hander is an even 2-2 this season with an ERA of 4.88 and a 1.95 WHIP in his first six starts. He was also the starter in last Tuesday’s game. Senzatela only lasted 3.2 innings after getting shelled for five earned runs on seven hits.

There is always some value to be found in betting home underdogs on the MLB moneyline in any series opener. However, given this home team’s current form, going against the Rockies could be the smarter play.
