Montgomery has given up 109 hits, 15 home runs, and 26 walks plus 106 strikeouts in 125.2 innings. The Cardinals acquired Montgomery from the New York Yankees at midseason. The Cardinals are 2-0 in Montgomery’s first two games. In those two games vs. the Yankees and Brewers, Montgomery has shined with no earned runs, six hits, nine strikeouts, and three walks in 11 innings. 

Prior to the games on Aug. 16, the Rockies were first in batting average (.263), fourth in on-base percentage (.326), ninth in RBI (507), 12th in slugging percentage (.408) and 21st in home runs (105). First baseman C.J. Cron leads the Rockies in home runs (23), RBI (80), and hits (120). Shortstop Jose Iglesias is tops on the Rockies in batting average (.314) and on-base percentage (.352). 

Before the contests on Aug. 16, the Cardinals ranked sixth in batting average (.253), on-base percentage (.323) and RBI (515), seventh in slugging percentage (.417), and 10th in home runs (134). First baseman Paul Goldschmidt leads the Cardinals across the board in batting average (.328), home runs (28), RBI (89), on-base percentage (.413), and hits (133). Third baseman Nolan Arenado has compiled 119 hits, 25 home runs and 73 RBI. Second baseman Tommy Edman has recorded 109 hits and a team-best 24 stolen bases. 

Prior to the game on Aug. 16, the Rockies were 61-55-1 against the spread overall and 23-30-1 against the spread on the road. For over/under, the Rockies were 56-57-4 overall and 27-25-2 on the road. 

Leading up to the contest on Aug. 16, the Cardinals were 62-52 against the spread overall and 35-23 against the spread at home. In terms of over/under, the Cardinals were 53-57-4 overall and 29-27-2 at home. 

The Cardinals will cruise to a dominant victory vs. the Rockies in the middle game of the set.
