Legal online sports betting made its debut in New York on Saturday, Jan. 8. Anticipation for this day has been building since early last year when state lawmakers first approached the idea of legalization.

The only form of legal sports betting in the Empire State was through a handful of retail sportsbooks in upstate New York casinos. The drive towards legal online sports betting through mobile sportsbook apps finally gained enough momentum to become a reality in 2021.

The New York State Gaming Commission gave approval to nine different mobile sportsbook operators to enter the market. The big three of FanDuel, DraftKings and BetMGM topped the list. However, one operator making the biggest splash with its rollout plans is Caesars Sportsbook.

As the sports betting brand for Nevada casino gaming giant Caesars Entertainment, this sportsbook has big plans in the New York market.

This effort started last November with a landmark deal with the co-owners of Madison Square Garden, the NBA’s New York Knicks and the NHL’s New York Rangers. As an official sports betting partner, Caesars Sportsbook formed a strategic partnership with one of the most iconic sports venues in the country.

Madison Square Garden along with two equally iconic New York sports franchises and MSG Networks give Caesars an immediate in with a large base of New York sports fans. To sweeten the pot, Caesars Sportsbook is going all in with its promotional lineup for new mobile sports betting customers in the state.

New York sports bettors 21 and older signing up for a Caesars Sportsbook online betting account can earn a free bet bonus up to $300. They are also eligible for a matching bonus up to $3,000 on their initial deposit. Upon registering, don't forget to use our exclusive promo code VIMAXSPORTNEW.

This is above and beyond any other offer on the table in New York for new customer acquisition. New Caesars sports betting customers also have the added plus of trying into Caesars Rewards. They can earn valuable points for their online sports betting activity.

Another big edge was the early launch in New York. Caesars Sportsbook was one of four mobile operators to go live on Jan. 8 along with FanDuel, DraftKings and Rush Street Interactive’s BetRivers brand.

Caesars Entertainment already has gaming interests in New York through a partnership with Turning Stone Resort Casino in upstate Verona. This land-based casino gaming venue is owned by Oneida Nation, and it has been operating a retail sportsbook since 2019.

Ken Fuchs is the head of sports for Caesars. He released the following comments concerning Caesars’ marketing efforts in New York:

“Over the course of the next several months, you’ll see us do experimental events across the state. We have a 60 million person database and we’ll accelerate that with Turning Stone and the Knicks and the Rangers and the MSG. You’ll see us do a lot of things on the ground and take the opportunity to get in front of the fans.”
