SuperContest Expands From NFL, Adds SuperContest College

Since 1988, The SuperBook in Las Vegas has been home to the SuperContest, a renowned weekly NFL picks competition. The past few years have brought some big adjustments, along with modest tweaks, to keep up with the sports betting landscape.
But this year brings arguably the biggest addition: SuperContest College. Now, there's a weekly college football picks contest to go along with the mainstay NFL-based SuperContest. Further, there's a high-stakes SuperContest Survivor, also for NFL.

2025 SuperContest
Back To School
In the past, college football picks contests have existed here in Nevada. But none ever really got a toehold. Perhaps one big reason why: An inability to make picks remotely, instead having to drive to the sportsbook every week.
That could be the difference maker for SuperContest College, along with a lower price point. It's $500 per entry, with up to 10 entries allowed. Contestants will make seven picks per week against the spread, across 14 weeks, starting with the weekend of Aug. 30.
"As far as I know, this is the first big college football handicapping contest in Nevada where patrons can submit their picks on a mobile device," SuperBook vice president John Murray said. "Just come in once, sign up and pay, and you can submit from wherever you are [in Nevada] the rest of the season."
If you live outside Nevada, you can still sign up and compete by designating a Nevada-based proxy to put in weekly picks. And as with all of The SuperBook's contests, all entry fees are returned to the contestants via prize money.
"We're most excited about the college contest," SuperBook vice president John Murray said. "There's been a lot of people asking us for a college contest for years. Now, you can come and sign up for it."
Murray expects the $500 entry fee to entice the public betting masses and the college football betting experts, as well.
"I think a lot of pros are gonna be in it, and a good mix of recreational bettors who don't want to put up 1,500 bucks," Murray said. "And then there's people who just prefer college football, like a lot of us do. Really, your best chance to do a college contest is right here at the Westgate."
The top 10 finishers get paid out, with first place taking 40% of the pot.
Original Recipe

Of course, the mainstay SuperContest leads off The SuperBook's batting order, to mix a baseball metaphor with the NFL. And there are some changes to that offering, as well.
First off, the entry fee is returning to $1,500, after spending a few years at $1,000. But again, The SuperBook returns all fees as prize money; there's a method to the increase, aiming to benefit the winner.
"We're trying to get the first-place prize back up a little bit higher this year," Murray said. "We've taken a little bit of money out of the in-season contests. We still have the 11 in-season contests, so it's 12 ways to win, just like it has been the last few years.
"But we're trying to get that winner's number back up a little bit higher in 2025."
The 18-week contest – five NFL picks per week, against the spread, maximum 10 entries – will pay the top 20 finishers on a sliding percentage scale. The winner collects 42% of the pot that remains after in-season contests. As Murray noted, there are 11 ways to win during the season:
- Six three-week contests. $30,000 prize pool for each three-week period, paid to the top three finishers.
- Three six-week contests. $55,000 prize pool for each six-week period, paid to the top four finishers.
- Two nine-week contests. $115,000 prize pool for each nine-week period, paid to the top five finishers.
The winner-take-all SuperContest Gold is back, as well. That's $5,000 per entry, maximum three entries, and the entire pot goes to whomever wins the seasonlong contest.
"Winner take all. Second place gets nothing," Murray said.
SuperContest Survivor
The SuperBook is also adding SuperContest Survivor for the 2025 NFL season. It's the standard setup: Pick one team per week to win straight up. And you can only use each team once.
"We wanted to capitalize on the popularity of Survivor contests. That was a big part of it," Murray said. "But mostly, we did it for the same reason we started SuperContest College. We had been talking about [Survivor] for years and had people asking about it for years.
"So we decided now was the time to give it a go."
Survivor is a higher price point for entrants, at $5,000 apiece (max 10 entires). But that obviously leads to a more significant prize pool. And while the idea is to have a sole survivor, if multiple entrants make it through all 18 weeks unscathed, then the pool is split equally among those entrants.
