ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE vs. TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS BETTING PREDICTION

The Crimson Tide of Alabama head to Knoxville for a top-10 showdown against the Volunteers of Tennessee, and there is one huge question looming over the game: Will defending Heisman Trophy winner QB Bryce Young be healthy enough to play? Young has been battling a shoulder injury, knocked out of the Arkansas game two weeks ago. He missed the near-miss win against Texas A&M last weekend in Tuscaloosa.

Head coach Nick Saban said that Young has practiced a little bit, and the quarterback has been limited. As of Thursday evening, the head coach would not commit one way or the other about Young's status.

Bama has won 15 consecutive games in the series, and it leads the all-time series 58-38-7. The last time the Volunteers picked up a victory in the series was 2006.

Tennessee is coming off an impressive 40-13 win at LSU last week, as QB Hendon Hooker had a strong game leading the team to a 5-0 SU record and 4-1 ATS mark. The closest passes were a 34-27 overtime win at Pittsburgh, as well as a 38-33 home win against Florida on Sept. 24. The other wins have been by 27 or more points.

Bama has looked vulnerable at times, and QB Jalen Millroe nearly blew the game against A&M with plenty of mistakes. The kicking game was also off, and there were some un-Saban-like undisciplined play. Young was in there at Texas when the team eked out a 20-19 win, needing a last-second field goal.

This could be a huge win for Tennessee, and I think the Vols have the offense to get it done.

ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE BETTING ANALYSIS

The Tide negotiated the waters against Texas A&M with Millroe turning the ball over, uncommon mistakes and misfires in the kicking game. That's fine at home, but it's a different animal on the road, even for Alabama. The Tide barely won at Texas, and it did pound Arkansas, even after losing Young. But Tennessee is playing better than anybody in the country.

The Tide is 14-3 ATS in the past 17 games following a non-cover, so they'll be coming in looking to bounce back after a close call. The Tide is also 7-2 ATS in the past nine games in the month of October, and 4-1 ATS in the past five on a natural grass surface.

As far as the totals are concerned, the UNDER has cashed in six of the past eight games overall, while going 6-1 in the past seven against teams with a winning record. Alabama has also hit the UNDER in six of the past eight following a straight-up win.

TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Vols QB Hendon Hooker might have one of the best deep balls in all of the country right now. He has completed 70.0% of his pass attempts for 1,432 yards, 10 touchdowns and no interceptions, while racking up 231 yards on the ground with three rushing touchdowns, too.

Tennessee is No. 1 in the country in total yards per game (547.8), while ranking No. 2 in points scored (46.8) per game. On defense, the Vols have been pounded for 307.4 passing yards per game, ranking 128th, but it is 11th with just 89.4 yards per game on the ground.

Tennessee is trying to erase a poor recent history against the number, going 5-12 ATS in the past 17 against winning teams, and 2-5 ATS in the past seven vs. SEC teams.

For totals, the Vols have cashed the OVER in nine of the past 11 games overall, while hitting the OVER in six straight at Neyland, while going 5-1 in the past six SEC games. The OVER is also 5-2 in the past seven against teams with a winning overall record.
