The History

Open Mind, Go For Wand, Meadow Star, Silverbulletday, Beholder and Songbird are some of the fantastic young ladies to have captured this event. My Flag splashed home in the mud to win in 1995 before her daughter Storm Flag Flying took the 2002 renewal at Arlington Park. Ria Antonia was put up via DQ in 2013 after She’s a Tiger bumped her in deep stretch.

How TO HANDICAP THE BREEDERS' CUP JUVENILE FILLIES

Best

2 - HIDDEN CONNECTION dominated Churchill Downs’ G3 Pocahontas in her first route attempt, making her a perfect 2 for 2 in her brief career. The waters get deeper today but she has been working of late like she’s only scratched the surface of her ability. The ship West and new venue are concerns but she’s a big threat.

East Coast based 6 - ECHO ZULU has flashed high speed in her three starts and was super impressive re-breaking from her pace rival to take Belmont Park’s G1 Frizette by more than 7 lengths earlier this month. Expect she’ll again be rolling from the bell but the outside draw does give her rider Joel Rosario options. Pedigree says she’ll stretch out to two turns effectively.

5 - JUJU’S MAP settled in a tracking spot before drawing off to the open lengths G1 Alcibiades score at Keeneland last time for a Brad Cox barn that’s had an incredible year. Wouldn’t be a surprise to see her continue to give a good account of herself as she draws inside what will likely be her main pace foe and figures to be hustled out of the gate.

Rest

1 - DESERT DAWN has a right to get better second time going long but she will need to in order to have a serious say in the outcome in this compact field.

3 - SEQUIST is an off the pace type who made a solid run to get third money behind Juju’s Map in the Alcibiades. She hopes to get an honest clip in front of her today and could have more to say if things heat up in front of her.

4 - TARABI has been idle since a troubled try from the Saratoga fence in the G1 Spinaway in which she was a distant runner up to today’s rival Echo Zulu. While she’s been working well of late, don’t know that she’s going to prosper given today’s added real estate.

JUVENILE FILLIES Predictions

IF I’M RIGHT...

The pace is quick and Joel Rosario opts to rate ECHO ZULU just off JUJU’S MAP who is drawn to her immediate inside, leaving both runners short of stride enough late to set the stage for HIDDEN CONNECTION to pick up the pieces and maintain her undefeated record.

Live Longshot

SEQUIST could find herself rallying into a pace that’s falling apart late and though the price won’t be too big in such a short field, she could get in the mix to spruce up the exotics.
