CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS vs. VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS PREDICTIONS

After getting smacked around by the Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild and Winnipeg Jets from March 15-20, the Blackhawks have come out firing on the West Coast swing. In the first two games of its trip, Chicago has doubled up Anaheim 4-2 in regulation and it topped Los Angeles 4-3 in a shootout Thursday behind new (old) backup Collin Delia following the Marc-Andre Fleury trade. New (old) regular netminder Kevin Lankinen was in between the pipes for the Anaheim win.

The Golden Knights snapped out of a scoring funk in a big way, waylaying the visiting Nashville Predators on Thursday by a 6-1 count. The Knights, shut out in their previous two outings, fired 50 shots on beleaguered backstop Juuse Saros, netting two goals in each of the three periods in a tidy offensive effort.

Mattias Janmark, Nicolas Roy, Evgenii Dadonov, Jack Eichel, Chandler Stephenson and Alex Pietrangelo each lit the lamp. Three of the goals came on the power play, too, including Dadonov's marker. He was dealt to the Anaheim Ducks earlier in the week, but the trade was rescinded by the NHL due to a gaffe in paperwork and handling of a no-trade clause.

CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 24-32-9
  • ATS: 34-31
  • O/U: 31-27-7

The Blackhawks have won back-to-back games for the first time since a four-game win streak from Jan. 8-15, a run which included victories in Las Vegas, as well as at home against Anaheim. Can Chicago keep it rolling on The Strip?

Chicago has won each of its past five games against Pacific Division teams, although they're just 8-19 in the past 27 games against Western Conference teams. It's also just 13-41 in the past 54 against teams with a winning record, too.

The Blackhawks have been all about the OVER lately, going 8-2-1 in the past 11 games overall, while going 4-1-1 in the past six games on the road. The OVER is also 7-2-1 in the past 10 as an underdog, while going 4-1-1 in the past six as a road 'dog.

VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 35-28-4
  • ATS: 27-40
  • O/U: 36-28-3

Vegas snapped an ugly offensive skid with a powerful effort Thursday against Nashville. VGK will look to keep it rolling, and should be able to do so against a Chicago team it has dominated in recent seasons. The Blackhawks are just 1-4 in their past five trips to Vegas, while going 3-12 in the past 15 meetings overall. The favorite has cashed in 10 of the previous 13 in the series.

Vegas has defended 'The Fortress' well, winning each of the past four home dates, while going 55-25 in the past 80 as a home favorite over the years. However, it is just 3-7 in the past 10 games overall, and 1-9 in the previous 10 tries against Central Division teams, although it snapped an 0-9 skid with the emphatic win over the Preds.

For totals, Vegas has still cashed the OVER in six of the previous eight games despite getting shut out twice in the past three games. The OVER is also 4-1 in the past five at home, while the UNDER is 7-2 in the past nine against Central teams. Again, VGK took care of the OVER on its own in the 6-1 win Thursday.

CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS vs. VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS BETTING CONCLUSION

The Blackhawks have been playing better, getting away from the Windy City. It's been a trying week, as the team traded Brandon Hagel to the Tampa Bay Lightning, receiving some criticism from within the locker room, then the club dealt with the popular Marc-Andre Fleury. Chicago has rallied around each other.

Vegas was blanked in consecutive games earlier in the week, and this is a team teetering on the brink of missing the playoffs. That's inexcusable for a team up against the salary cap, with a talented roster including Jack Eichel. But a knee injury to Robin Lehner has this team scrambling, and the offense will have to put up big numbers the rest of the way. They should be able to do that against a Blackhawks defense and goaltending unit which is rather mediocre. Expect VGK to come up aces.
