Betting on the Chicago Blackhawks
As one of the NHL’s original six franchises, the Blackhawks garner plenty of interest from fans and bettors alike.
Chicago Blackhawks Franchise History
The Blackhawks won two Stanley Cups in the 1930s shortly after the NHL’s inception. After that, it wasn’t until 1961 that they captured another elusive title.
Remarkably, from 1959-1997, Chicago missed the playoffs only once. Perhaps even more remarkably, they failed to win a second Stanley Cup in that span following their 1961 championship.
Despite their playoff struggles that stretched across several decades, the Blackhawks were long established as one of the most successful NHL franchises.
After their impressive playoff run, Chicago regressed and qualified for the postseason once in ten years. After Joel Quenneville took over coaching duties in 2009, the team’s fortunes changed.
All those years of heartbreak in the playoffs were cashed in for not one, not two, but three Stanley Cups in six year in the early 2010s.
Led by Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, the Blackhawks became something of a dynasty.
Betting on the Chicago Blackhawks in Illinois
Both online and retail sports betting are legal and live in the Land of Lincoln. Illinois sports betting does, however, come with a couple caveats.
Originally, bettors were unable to bet on in-state college teams as we’ve seen in other states such as New Jersey and Virginia. Now, that ban is lifted, but bettors must place their wager on an in-state college team at a retail sportsbook.
The other caveat impacts bettors upon signup. Illinois required online bettors to complete their online registration in person at a retail sportsbook.
After March 5, 2022, Illinois bettors are able to sign up for an online sportsbook from wherever they please, as long as they are within state lines.

New users only, 21 or older. Available in AZ, CO, CT, IA, IL, IN, LA, MI, NJ, NY, PA, TN, VA, WV, WY only. Full T&C apply.
Anyone looking to place a wager on the Blackhawks might be interested in betting that they’ll simply win their game. That could look like this:
· Blackhawks -150
· Red Wings +120
In this example, the Blackhawks are favored on the moneyline over the Detroit Redwings.
A bettor backing the Blackhawks simply needs them to win the game, as stated above. Odds of -150 indicate that the bettor would need to place a $150 wager to make a $100 profit.
Chicago Blackhawks Sportsbook Partnerships
In February 2022, the United Center, home of the Blackhawks and Chicago Bulls, agreed to a partnership with FanDuel, the leading sportsbook operator in the US.
The deal plans to bring fans a two-story lounge adjacent to the United Center, consisting of state-of-the-art sports viewing and wagering technology.
Before the lounge can support full scale sports betting, it needs approval from the Illinois Gaming Board.
There should be no issues receiving that approval, but in the meantime, the venue will serve as a spot for fans to enjoy live sports from their event.
Additionally, the deal includes physical and digital marketing for FanDuel as well as VIP packages for fans and bettors.
