If the playoffs ended today the Capitals would face off against the Florida Panthers, a team with 116 points, tied for most in the NHL. That could all change in a hurry, as they're currently just one point back of the Pittsburgh Penguins, with one game in hand, and that could set up a first-round series with the New York Rangers. Either way, it's a rather tall order, so pick your poison.
The Golden Knights would love to face anybody in the playoffs. Currently they're on the outside looking in, and a 3-2 loss against the New Jersey Devils on home ice Monday, preceded by a 4-0 loss at Edmonton Saturday, really has the Vegas faithful worried. After a five-game win streak from March 24-April 3, VGK is just 2-3-1 across the past six, picking up five out of a possible 12 points, which is not what the doctor ordered.
