Analysis of the Match

There wasn't much to learn from Bayern's 10-0 victory over the semi-professional team Auckland City, except for the fact that Vincent Kompany is taking this competition very seriously. The match also demonstrated Bayern's strength in depth, and if they can keep their best players healthy, the Bundesliga champions could be a serious threat to win the tournament in the US.

However, they would likely be grateful not to have faced Boca Juniors in their opening match. Witnessing Boca's physical and aggressive style against Benfica will prepare Bayern better for this encounter.

Boca was very much in Benfica's face from the first whistle. If they allowed Benfica to find their rhythm, they would probably have lost, and they knew that. However, despite having a solid 30 minutes that saw them go up 2-0, Boca once again pressed the self-destruct button, even with a man advantage.

This is where Bayern can demonstrate more streetwise tactics than the Portuguese side. If Kompany's team can score first and take control of the match, gaps will start to appear for Boca, who were visibly exhausted towards the end of their first match.

Boca's high energy was impressive, but in the heat, it is unsustainable for a full 90 minutes. Bayern possesses so much quality throughout their squad; they are a level above Benfica in front of goal, and Boca will struggle to keep up with them.

While Boca's draw against Benfica has given them some hope, the reality is that it's largely false hope, and Bayern can pick them off with ease.

Bayern Munich Analysis and Form

As mentioned earlier, we didn't learn much about Bayern Munich from their first match in the Club World Cup. Vincent Kompany's team didn't just depend on Harry Kane; even though he struggled to find space against Auckland, his teammates took full advantage of the opportunities available.

Kingsley Coman, Thomas Muller, and Michael Olise each scored two goals and delivered impressive performances. While this outcome was anticipated, scoring ten goals against any opponent in a major tournament is sure to boost the players' confidence heading into their next match.

With strong options off the bench, including Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala—who scored a hat trick in just 30 minutes—Bayern can make substitutions throughout the game without weakening their lineup.

They are undeniably one of the favorites to win the tournament, and the German side is eager to demonstrate their capabilities against Boca Juniors in the second round.

Vincent Kompany's team appeared fresh, which could be concerning for the other teams as the competition progresses in the coming weeks.

Boca Juniors Analysis and Form
