Most Popular World Cup Plays to Bet at Unibet

*Odds accurate as of June 23, 2022*

Brazil (+600)

The current favorite to win the World Cup is Brazil, who have +600 odds to hoist the trophy. Brazil has won more World Cups than any other country with five, but they have not won since 2002, so a victory this year would be their first in exactly 20 years. Brazil is the favorite despite failing to reach the semifinals in the 2018 World Cup; they lost in the quarterfinals to Belgium, 2-1.

Other Top Contenders

France (+750)

The reigning 2018 World Cup Champions, France comes in as the second-favorite behind Brazil to win it all in 2022. If France is able to pull off the repeat, they would be the first team to win back-to-back World Cups since … Brazil (1958 and 1962). Yes, it’s been 60 years since the World Cup was won by the same nation in back-to-back World Cups. It’s fitting that the biggest threat to France’s chances are the same country that was the last to accomplish the feat.

England (+800)

Just behind France on the odds board at Unibet is European rival, England. The English are led by longtime superstar Harry Kane who is playing in potentially his final World Cup. Kane has never won a World Cup, as England hasn’t hoisted the trophy since 1966 when they won their only title. In fact, that 1966 championship was the last time England reached the final; in 2018 they lost in the semifinals to Croatia and finished fourth after losing the third-place game to Belgium.

Argentina (+900)

Another team attempting to win the World Cup with a superstar likely in his final run is Argentina. Lionel Messi will head to Qatar for potentially his final opportunity to win the Cup. He and his Argentinian teammates came up just short in 2014 when they lost in the final against Germany. Their last appearance in 2018 didn’t go quite as well, as they were beaten in the Round of 16 by eventual champion, France. Argentina last won the Cup in 1986 and have won two titles in the their history (’78 and ’86)

Spain (+900)

The final team that has odds shorter than +1000 is Spain. The Spanish were beaten in the knockout stage in 2018 after falling in penalty kicks to eventual runner-up, Croatia. Spain has won one World Cup in its history, and that came in 2010. That title marks Spain’s only appearance in the final match. The only other time they reached the semifinals was in 1950 with a fourth-place finish.
