An offseason led by big headlines; the Browns will also look to see what they will get out of Amari Cooper to be their number one wide receiver after a trade with the Dallas Cowboys. If the trade had a loser, it was Dallas, and it is not even close. After some up and down seasons in Oakland, Amari found a home in Dallas which earned him a $100 million contract over five years. That was just two years ago.

The Browns traded for Cooper and restructured the contract in part to be able to get Watson. Now this new-look Browns teams will travel to face off against Baker in Carolina. The Panthers were full of promise last season after Sam Darnold was able to pull of three straight wins to open the season.

Darnold also threw for at least 279 in four straight games. After a 3-0 start, the Panthers were only able to get into the win column two more times in 2021. Darnold threw for over 200 yards just twice more throughout the year, and that’s a big reason for him to be number two in the depth chart, behind new arrival Mayfield.

The Carolina Panthers are listed as slight favorites laying 1.5 with a -110 price. The Browns are also listed at -110 on the spread but may be worth a look on the money line coming in at even money. While the Browns may be missing their biggest offseason acquisition, they may be in better position to start the season. The Panthers really did not get better, even with CMC and Chuba Hubbard in the backfield.

The total is set to 41.5 with both the over and under coming in at -110. Trends are not going to be your friend necessarily in the early going of this new season, but the over may be worth a look. The total has gone over in four of the last five meetings between these clubs. Both Cleveland and Carolina come in off bad seasons and would like to get off on the right foot.
